They declare

1) The Constitution, in use since 1997, VOID
2) All representatives, the parliament and the constitution court, VOID
3) Privy councillors, working normally
4) All other courts, in operation under supervision of the coup operation team

Thailand is now a democratic country with no constitution.

I heard about it on NPR. Not sure it's a very big change for the average Thai citizen though.

I'm surprised that this hasn't been to prominent in the news. I heard about it yesterday, saw it properly on the news today. The BBC was interviewing some Thai's, and no one seemed to really care.

It's not a big deal I think because of how nonviolently and easily it happened...which I suppose is a good thing.

It's still a big deal, violence or not. Thaksin had a lot of policies implemented which may now be reversed. I like King Bhumibol, but it's all too often that a monarch becomes a puppet for a military regime. Too early to tell, and sadly as Pat said, not that uncommon for the average Thai citizen over 30, but still... I'm a little concerned.
