ZOE2 HD runs as follows:
- Sometimes solid 60 fps
- most times solid 30 fps (notably, Auuman crevasse massive battle)
- Sometimes as slow as the PS2 version (most notably, Anubis space battle)
- Never actually worse than the PS2 version.
This makes me sad... I mean there isn't much added at all in this port and the only appeal being better FPS didn't deliver at all.
Numerous dust, smoke and light effects also seem to be missing in the game.
Also 1-2 really long loading times.
I'm a giant fan of ZoE2, but even I am debating if I really want to support a lazy port =/

Sounds mostly like a decent port to me but nothing to get excited about.
This collection isn't being made by Bluepoint Games like the MGS, Team ICO and God of War Collections right? Is kinda odd that Konami or Kojima Productions didn't work with them again after the good work they did with MGS2 and 3 (I understand that Peace Walker HD was made internally at Kojima Productions).

I rented the first ZOE and had a lot of fun with it...and then promptly forgot about its existence for several years. I look forward to playing it again and to playing 2. That said, I was planning on waiting a couple of months to buy it, but I will have to make other arrangements now that I've seen the collector's edition. I'm a sucker for art books.

More than anything they did a nice job on the look of that audio CD. It looks awesome, like when you'd see a data disk or somesuch in a game made in the 90s.

I knew I should've gotten the 360 version. Oh well. I still look forward to my Collector's Edition (Thanks for the heads up btw, Yggdrasil. I wouldn't have known about it beforehand had you not mentioned it). I love the mecha designs, so I know I'll like the artbook.

PS3 is definitively slower than PS2 on that fight =/
Maybe I'll just stick to the PS2 version until I can find the PS3 version in the bargain bin.

Kind of frustrating, the game WILL slow down at lower FPS so it's not simply a matter of looking nicer, and the 360 doesn't have pressure sensitive buttons. But maybe they didn't bother keeping that functionality in the PS3 version, in which case the choice would be easier, even though I would prefer it on the PS3. But it sounds less like bad porting and more the hardware failing to keep up in certain areas relative to the PS2's specs, so in HD it'd end up running slower more frequently.

Ok so personally I don't actually see a difference between the PS3 and 360 versions in terms of framerate, but to me the 360 one looks a ton clearer.

You'll never see the FPS difference for real on a Youtube video, those are capped at 30. It's also why people want 60 FPS rather than even higher unless they have a 120 hz monitor, you simply can't show a >60FPS on a TV or typical LCD monitor.
