While the first post CAN steer the direction of the thread, I mainly just wished the inevitable "I didn't want this on 3DS!" posts to at least wait awhile, especially when it's on a much desired game in a series that's been settled in on handhelds as of late anyway.

Edit: So uhm, with the game announced and all I wonder what ending is going to be canon from SMT: Noctune for this sequel. If they choose to make an entire game around the "True Demon Ending" that would be very interesting, but I doubt that's gonna happen.

That's what everyone's, or at least I'm, hoping for.

The third is supposed to be another world, but before the Conception, it clearly has Messian and Gaian cults, so there's a 1 & 2 connection.

I think I said this before but back when Nocturne was released in Japan Atlus did a DVD showing a timeline of the (at the time) entire franchise. There you can see how SMT and Persona are kinda connected by Shin Megami Tensei: if...

IIRC a lot of the connections between Nocturne and the first two came in the, uh, Maniacs version? 

Also Raidou is apparently in the Persona 1 and 2 universe based on Kuzunoha detective agency and what-what.

Guess it's time to buy a 3DS, if they announce a new Tales of game it will definitely sway me over, although I wonder if they will come out with an XL anytime soon, although it's bigger than my old DS the 3DS for some reason looked smaller when I tried one out, weird, maybe the 3D graphics throw me off.

Honestly, there's nothing the current gen consoles really offers that'll make SMT any better; the games go for stylized art rather than realism and I don't think the current technology would do anything other than smooth out some edges. The PS2 was pretty good at rendering models very close to the original artwork, and we've seen that the handhelds are as powerful as the PS2, if not moreso. Unless you are really just that averse to handhelds, I'd say give this game a chance - it did, after all, JUST get announced.

I think it's a matter of disappintment-- the presentation is SO good in Catherine, I know I was kind of hoping to see a full SMT with that kind of presentation.
