Since SMT IV is coming out for the 3DS I'm betting on Persona 5 coming out for PS3/360. Atlus has definitely shifted its priorities from the main series to the Persona sub-series, which is understandable, albeit disappointing.

I'm still not sold on either handheld, but this might convince me to finally get a 3DS over a Vita.

I'm really okay with this.

Mixed feelings about it on a handheld. I loved Nocturne and would love to see the main series game on a console, but I'm happy the game is getting made.

I'm hoping the 3DS revision comes out by the time this, Etrian Odyssey and Soul Hackers come to North America.

I have very little time for handhelds, only time to play is on flights.

This is why this decision sucks for me, I would much rather play it on the big screen, handheld just doesn't feel as good.

If this come out on the vita then I would buy one just for this (plus I already plan to buy one for P4P), but 3DS... probably not.

Honestly, I wholeheartedly recommend the 3DS, it's pretty cheap now and unless you have some reason for not playing on portable systems, there's not much reason NOT to get one, unless you're holding out for the inevitable redesign

I've bout a DS and a PSP and hardly played them. They're awesome but I just can't get into portable gaming.

I could never get into DS gaming, even though I own one...something about those tiny screens and uncomfortable ergonomics.  I just can't play games for a long time on one.  I don't imagine the 3DS is much different.

The PSP has been good ever since I bought an add-on grip accessory so I can actually hold it comfortably.  It makes the thing huge but I can't play it without it.  Plus you can plug it into a TV.  But in general ergonomics for handhelds suck.

I'm really not thrilled about having to get a 3DS...

While the first post CAN steer the direction of the thread, I mainly just wished the inevitable "I didn't want this on 3DS!" posts to at least wait awhile, especially when it's on a much desired game in a series that's been settled in on handhelds as of late anyway.

... I do think I may need to get a grip for the 3DS though. It's one of the more uncomfortable ones to hold, and I usually have a higher tolerance there. Hear the Mario Kart steering wheel one is actually really good for that purpose.

Nah, this is not neogaf and besides people here in RPFan love the series. I'm actually pretty happy that SMT IV is being made but I wanted something bigger like Nocturne... after Strange Journey though I should have guessed that SMT IV is was going to be made for a handheld.

Still, I do want a 3DS mainly for Souls Hackers and I'll get SMT IV even though is not in the kind of platform I wanted.

Edit: So uhm, with the game announced and all I wonder what ending is going to be canon from SMT: Noctune for this sequel. If they choose to make an entire game around the "True Demon Ending" that would be very interesting, but I doubt that's gonna happen.
