Thanks, Dice. When I posted these to my Facebook I put emphasis on the sex change part in the titles. As if a school teacher committing suicide wasn't enough, they had to make a freak show out of it.

It is indeed too bad that they had to make a freak show out of it.

The really sad part is that when I saw 'found dead' in Dice's post my first thoughts were 'Was she murdered?' and 'Was the murder because of the news about the sex change being released?' :(

It didn't occur to me that it was a suicide until Starmongoose's post mentioned that. (I hadn't read the articles yet.)

The articles didn't mention that, simply that her death was 'not considered suspicious.'

It's really unfortunate that they made it into a freakshow though, and just because it was a suicide doesn't also automatically mean that it isn't also murder, if only by proxy. I can understand how an issue like this can be complicated, especially at an elementary school, but God damn if the parents weren't a bunch of assholes about it.

"not considered suspicious" because she had been talking about suicide since the article by Richard Littlejohn in December practically called her a pedophile for being a transgender school teacher.

I didn't really get that implication from the article, what I DID get was more of the 'WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN' nonsense that idiot tabloid reporters like to churn out.

For sure, there was a complex issue there (as kids can be impressionable), but the writer's tone was out of line and completely and utterly fucked up. As I said, just because it was a suicide doesn't mean it wasn't also a murder.

When I chose those three articles, I also included a little bit on Facebook where I talked about how this is the state of the conservative British tabloids. These weren't the actual ones I would send people too to inform them, as I've been reading more liberal sources that handle the situation with the respect it deserves and interviews with friends and co-workers revealed that she was thinking about suicide.

Though I get what you mean, that Littlejohn has a lot to answer for, though he never will.

Nah, I doubt a loss of $50 million is going to be met with apathy.

No good change? That would be probable.

No good change is pretty much what I meant. I fear a lot of people are taking this is a "Yes! Old Square is coming back!". No...just no.

Good PR right thar.  I guess you expect a bit more decorum about something troubling future players.

Ah well, he's got a meme already anyways.  It's alright.

Margaret Thatcher is dead. Despite my intense feelings of hatred towards her, I'm gonna try and not be to crass about it. However, I do find it amusing that the hashtag on twitter #nowthatchersdead is being taken as "Now that Cher's dead" and not "Now Thatchers Dead".
