So, there was a news report on just now claiming that several states--Texas, Massachusetts and Virginia among them--are considering assessing hybrid car owners a yearly fee for use of a hybrid car to make up for the lost gas tax money caused by the lower gas usage of hybrids.

I could post a long, eloquent argument on why this is wrong but I'll just keep it short instead:  Fucking those fucking greedy fuckers.

The day cars run on water, you won't be able to afford to drink it.

I imagine drinking a car is pretty hard. ;)

I don't doubt it, but living at home really hampers the idea of it... =/

While certainly enjoyable, I wouldn't rate it higher than a few other things in my life. Perhaps I'm just not doing it right.

I think people put too much stock on the importance of sex. So many people say relationships cannot function if the sex isn't just the best thing to happen to you.

Well, the study they reference is entirely based on self-reporting.  That really doesn't prove anything, other than what people think makes them happy.  Also got to wonder about the demographics.  How many of the people in this study even had kids?

Eugh, yeah this.  I hate the way sex is described as this "be all, end all" sometimes and if I'm not having it 5-8 days a week then I'm unsatisfied.  I like sex enough, but goddamn, like you said, the stock put into it drives me nuts (bear in mind, I formed a lot of these opinions way back when one of my girlfriends was an unhappy fuckbuddy because she wanted more, and another girlfriend of mine was the "other girl" to a fella cheating on his girlfriend).

*sigh* I've lost count of all the "studies" of what a bunch of people around the world has enjoyed for years. Like, eating healthy food is good for you and other dumb stuff like that.

Also, a life surrounded by alcohol and sex sounds pretty shitty in retrospective even if is enjoyable in the moment... but hey, what the fuck do I know.

Is it sex as the physical act or the emotional component of it though?

Whatever, though, I think marriage is weird and creepy and codependent as a concept and I don't see how anyone could stand to spend that much time around another person.

I've lived with my boyfriend for so long I can't stand not being around him for very long. We give ourselves a lot of space in the house to do our own thing but I like knowing he is there.

Spending time with your husband/wife just gets to the point where it isn't like having friends around, which I agree can get exhausting, but there shouldn't be any pretense about who you are with your partner, so the effort is minimal. I don't  think its possible to hide who you truly are when you live with someone 24/7, they might know you better than you know yourself.

I'm curious as to where (New Zealand?) and what group they asked. I imagine the list might be different in other parts of the world.

Yeah, but you're European. I think you guys have a better concept of "relationship != we own eachother" than Americans.
