God knows it's impossible for parents to do it. Who'd spent time with their kids... bleeeeegh !

I've seen several people talk about tracking games and/or banning them (generally people on the left/not Fox News sorts, ironically), and they never seem to come across the idea that parents should pay attention to what type of games their kids play.  Seriously, we don't suggesting banning movies because little kids shouldn't be watching violent, R-rated ones aimed at an adult audience, the same should apply to video games.

Apparently someone's doing a massive filibuster in the US Senate right now.

Except there wasn't a vote going on anyway.

It's been all over the news, this Russian drug craze called Krokodil that, when injected, basically immolates your flesh and is apparently highly addictive.  I remember accidentally taking a modern Russian lit course in college and one of the books I read was Moscow to the End of the Line by Venedikt Erofeev.  It was a very surreal book about a guy who was such a booze addict he would guzzle stuff like shoe polish to try and get a buzz.  Life imitating art, no?

Oh man I need to re-read that book. The ending is brutal though.

So the government shutdown.

God forbid people have healthcare (like in every single other civilized country in the fucking world)!  Stopping that (because it will "hurt the economy"...says the rhetoric, anyway) totally worth shutting down the government for (because that won't hurt the economy...yeah right)...

^ I love anything where animals get better.
I wonder how much they can acknowledge stuff like limbs [as a gift from humans], or when they do dental surgery on a lion and the like.

Anyways.  um. RIP Tom Clancy

In world news:

"America rapes itself!"

Yay for us! The most ridiculous thing about this is there's no possible way the House could win... so it's just a big mindless hissy fit. Even Senate Republicans are telling them to fuck off. I also love how government shutdowns stop everything that helps its people, but leaves open everything that dicks them and the rest of the world over. How did we come to this?

As an outsider, the entire situation seems very bizarre.

Me thinks all the power went to the wrong people at some point.
