I still confirm with my dad when I use my credit card for any purchases. He eyeballs the bills, so I stay safe and keep tabs on what I do. Old habits die hard.
Aren't you like 20-something?
Actually I haven't checked my bank account in awhile I wonder how much money I have.
27 actually. Helps (maybe hurts?) that I still live with him and all the bills and such are done via my name and debit card, etc. Still, it was always a good practice of mine to confirm whenever I was about to make a purchase of any sort, just in case. Never wanted to be the one who came home without toilet paper because I spent my last 20 bucks on a mexican dinner, you know?

My mom actually has access to my bank statements and bank account.
I really need to change that. Except I think I need her consent to do so. And... yeah.

I generally have a habit of checking my finances every week to make sure I'm within budget.

If you aren't using
https://www.mint.com/
yet, i highly recommend it.
It's scary to start thinking about budgets and planning and shit like that, but seriously, this service is free, has mobile apps for just about every platform AND it gives you alerts of when you have a bill coming up, helps you to be on track with your goals to save.
You can set budgets per month on everything from coffee shops to bars to video games to gas. It's pretty fucking rad.

mobile apps
Presumably, an individual who buys consumer electronics on a regular basis would have a greater need for an app that helps them manage money.
Aaaand why do I have a 30 dollar charge to my savings account for some restaurant yesterday.
Oh wait that was cab fair THIS THING IS WEIRD.

I figure out how much I need each month and then set up standing orders at the bank to transfer a set amount of money each month from my chequing into a savings account. Out of sight, out of mind....

Yeah, with direct deposit it's super easy to have a percentage of my check split off into my savings account. I never even see it until I have to make a big payment like property taxes or something.
I really don't check my bank balance in between paychecks. I have a decent idea in my head what's in there, and it's been awhile since I've genuinely had to worry about running out of money.
bonus! My son will. be done with Kindercare next month! That's $800 freakin' dollars a month back in our pockets. Kick ass. Considering we've been doing OK without this money, it will be directed into savings and bills. It's like getting a raise without actually getting one.

kindergarten was the best fucking grade. I remember so much of that vividly, including the room (in a really old catholic school in chicago). fucking nuns and shit.
I wish I could billy madison it up for a year and just relive certain grades. 7-8 were the worst because most people were assholes.
9 was probably 2nd to kindergarten because I met a damn good chunk of my friends in my german class.
The only thing that was shitty about HS was that I didn't get laid despite beeing comfy talking to chicks. Just sucked at sealing the deal.

Yeah, I can see why you'd want to relive certain grades.

WTF is Kindercare?
I got groped by a ginger in kindergarten. This was the first, and last, sexual encounter I had with another human being.

I find it odd that you don't know what Kindercare is. It's a daycare place. They basically bend you over and pull money out of your ass just to watch your kid for a couple hours a day. Sadly, my son has been going there for 5 years now. That's just the reality of things when both the husband and wife work. He can't wait to be done with it.
I wouldn't mind being groped by a ginger. Do I get to pick? Christina Hendricks, please! Karen Gillan would be a close second.

I don't know. They're all over the place. Kinda like Wallymart. Still, you're better off not knowing. Hopefully, you'll never need their services.
