From the early reports they seem to have been package bombs. There's no way explosions like that are accidental, IMO.

Well wishes to those affected.

I live about 15 minutes by train/bus from where it happened. Really scary. It's incredibly surreal. I still can't believe this happened. The videos are disturbing and an 8 year old boy has died, as well as many being injured. Why someone would do this is beyond me.

Thanks for the link Dice.

What frustrates me most about this mess right now is that instead of waiting for evidence to come in  and covering the facts, various political groups and/or segments of the media (hardly a difference between the two, frankly) are busy throwing blame at each other for the attack.  For fuck's sake, have some respect for the victims and take a day off from screaming at each other and focus on covering the facts, finding out new information, and giving people information about charities that will let them help.

It would be nice, but you are talking about the media.

I know, I know.  Getting ratings and pushing a political viewpoint is consistently more important than accurate reporting and sensitivity when it comes to important issues.

That's why I barely watched anything yesterday.  No one really (except maybe whoever is on the case) knows anything yet.  Guessing shit is annoying and does nothing.  I watched some and turned it off until actual facts come to light.

It's not just the media. The masses love a good circus show and any chance to validate hatred or outrage of any kind. If people in general weren't susceptible to this kind of behavior then the media wouldn't be the joke it is today. Even now on twitter and facebook are countless people spouting epithets and nonsense. It's really disheartening.

wrt people complaining about Bieber's comment in the Anne Frank house guestbook, I think the greater implication of that statement was that if Frank was, currently, a belieber, then Anne Frank would not, currently, be dead.

Most people aren't going to write something like "I wish you'd survived," just because that forces the person writing it to look at their OWN mortality.

Complaining about?  This is the first I've even heard of this drama...

And I could have happily lived my whole life never knowing about it, thank you very much.

I never even knew this was a thing.

It's a non-issue. I don't get the fuss.
