Probably one of five moments in history (between now and the end of time) where people actually cheered cops in the streets.

That'll change by next week by the first ticket someone gets.

Lol.

Well, let's just hope that it's only a ticket that results in the change in attitude rather than anything more serious.

Simcity and the ongoing love for EA... as the new 2.0 patch fails to patch things.

This is a bit on the side, but as I grow older and read more of the crazy shit that goes on in the world (like that one for example), I find that I understand Gendo from Evangelion more and more. There is no "God's in his heaven, all's right with the world" and without one, I don't think it's going to get better anytime soon.

My father worked in law enforcement for a while and spoke to me about one particular meeting with a jailer; the guy estimated that about half of the female guards on staff were having affairs with prisoners.  Easy pickings and all.  But yeah, it's odd that those women didn't have the sense to be on contraception.

Williams & Sonoma have announced that they're going to pull pressure cookers from their shelves for a couple of weeks in Massachusetts in respect for those who were injured by the bombing; personally I think that's extremely silly, I can't imagine anyone being offended and/or traumatized by seeing a pressure cooker on the shelf.  I wonder if they hope hardware stores in Massachusetts are going to pull all the nails from their shelves for a couple of weeks in a similar gesture of respect.

For goodness sakes I hope that's not true.  When did/do people get so easily scared?

BTW if I felt like putting on my conspiracy theorist hat, I think the worst possible case for the Boston bombings is if the bombers were not, in fact, Muslim radicals, but were acting on behalf of the Russian government in an attempt to get the US to crack down on Chechnya.

Conspiracy or not, though, I am pretty concerned about Russia using this as an excuse to invade Chechnya again. Because if history's told us anything, Russia really fucking loves invading the Caucasus and it's been like five years since the last time they did.

It is true, I verified the original story going around on Facebook with a Google search and several news sites popped up with the info.  Truthfully, I think it's silly precisely because no one is likely to get offended or traumatized by seeing a pressure cooker in one of their stores.
