Neverland Company, the developers of Lufia, Rune Factory, and the Shining Force Neo and EXA games, will cease operations on November 29 2013 because they have failed to successfully raise funds to continue their business. In a few days they will officially begin bankruptcy proceedings.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=724873

I guess I'll never play a Rune Factory game now.

What!  If there was ever a time for that Star Wars NOOOOOOO picture it is now.  I just discovered how great Rune Factory 3 is (should have been in the DS top 20 list).  Please tell me that Rune Factory games will not cease to be made.  Sad news indeed.

I didn't even realize this happened until just now when i randomly looked for news about Lufia. I don't know how Rune Factor 4 did but it's pretty well known that Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals crashed really, really hard. It launched at like, 17th in sales for its first week, got lukewarm review from Famitsu and was largely ignored in the States despite decent reviews. After a game crashes that hard its hard to expect good news, I guess.

Really makes me sad because I think every time Neverland made a Lufia game it was pretty good (YMMV with III, but I thought it was pretty ambitious for a GBC title). Likely we'll never see another Lufia game again.

Dunno if it's a seperate team, but the Rune Factory team is said to be working on a new game though.

Aw, sthat really is bittersweet :(

One of my classmates died in a traffic accident and he was a donor as well. It encouraged several of us to register too.

It's not surprising that they're looking to explore new markets...but it is surprising they went with this.  I wonder how Sony is reacting.

I've had no interest in the Oculus Rift whatsoever, so I don't have any sort of investment in the news other than a source of entertainment as I watch the outrage explode all over the Interwebs.

I am curious in this new virtual reality world (and a new form of gaming addiction that may follow it?).

Sorry and all due respect to Gandhi, but I believe in an eye for an eye here.  I feel the same about poachers who steadily kill off an entire species of animal too.

We're over the hill at 24, study says
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/04/140414172240.htm

*The researchers analyzed the digital performance records of 3,305 StarCraft 2 players, aged 16 to 44.

Now I know why all the strategic fighters in Ender's game were all youngins'.

I thought this was known for a while. But also, this doesn't apply to everybody in the same way.

http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/josh-d-scheinert/nigerian-girls-slavery_b_5283050.html

It's been making news, and I think it's important to share.

200 Nigerian girls between the ages of 12-15 were kidnapped from their school and sold to slavery thanks to efforts made by the terrorist group, Boko Haram.

I'm childless and probably will be for a long, long time, but I can project my mum and dad, or just try to even imagine the amount of grief felt by the parents right now...  I think it's one thing for your child to die (heaven forbid), but a whole new hurt when they're alive and someone's property.

A couple of world governments have offered their assistance in localizing and rescuing the girls.
Lets hope that leads to something.

My feelings about dogs over the years has gone from apathy to disgust. My feelings towards cats, however, has always been admiration.

Here's proof of concept:

Hey, if you dislike dogs, you'd better hate the owners who ruin them. Dogs that are raised right don't pull shit like that.

Badass cat though, can't argue with that.
