Didn't something similar happen with Tales of Vesperia on 360?

You paid for that, and it wasn't a straight up instant win button. REALLY hope you can disable that, I'd rather not have that option dangling there the whole time.

No sale if the game still uses shitty MIDI sequenced versions of all the music.
Man, my friend had the PC version back in the day. That music made my ears bleed. So bad.

Its literally inexcusable if they still have that stuff in there. This already reeks of a lazy cash in, but if they can't even go that far...
FFIX doesn't get enough love.

The problem with MIDI is that the quality varies
massively
from soundcard to soundcard. MIDI is just a set of instructions, and it relies on the sound samples stored on the actual soundcard as a base. But since MIDI was kind of on its way out already (as a music storage format, anyway) when FFVII PC came out it was usually the first thing any cheap soundcard would skimp on, and you could end up with something that sounded quite terrible. But on a good soundcard it really wasn't bad. There was also a completely software-based solution that processed the MIDI stream with the CPU. It was actually pretty CPU-intensive (at least for the time...shouldn't be an issue on any modern computer) so not everyone used it but it didn't sound bad at all.

True, but it wasn't what the music was supposed to sound like, and that's where my issue is.

I'd be surprised if it still uses MIDI, if it does it'll sound even worse now than it did in 1998. Windows MIDI is awful, it has no reverb whatsoever so any music played back by it sounds completely flat, and the softsynth that came with the game doesn't work on anything newer than Windows 98.

I'm kinda scared when SE touches FFIX again actually. Knowing them they can end up making a sequel for that game and ruin the little magic that the franchise has nowadays, same goes for FFVI.
Oh yeah, I found
this
and I think you might enjoy it.

OH MY GOD HELLO NEW BEST FRIEND. This is so awesome.
I really, really love FFIX. It captured everything I loved about the series but managed to get in a more Tales-style cast of characters, what with all the humor. Humor is more effective with drama, and drama is more effective with humor, and FFIX understood that. Plus... it has Zidane. I mean come on. You could combine the casts of FF7, 8, 10, 12, and 13, and still they wouldn't have as much charm and personality as FFIX's cast. /clearbias
6 and 9 (and Tactics) are without a doubt the FF's with the best cast of characters, I think.

Heh. Well I do like the characters in FFIX a lot, they are not annoying and everyone is very likeable.

I love Eiko's theme. She stole Beatrix's spot on the team and what should have been Dagger's spells, but I love her theme.
