Because it's a catastrophic wreck of MMO development.

Although this might be more a General thing than MMO.

Rule #1 of MMO making.  ONLY make an MMO if your company is already profitable, DO not use investors.  Aside from Trion, I seriously can't think of a single MMO dev backed by investors which never got their game released.

The game that actually came out isn't an MMO, but it was meant to be lead up to said MMO. In hindsight it'd probably have been best if they just made that single player game with some vague plans for an MMO should it be a break out hit.
