What the hell is Final Fantasy X doing at the top. The game's great, but it's nowhere near being my 'favorite game of all time'. Maybe it's just that a lot of people voted for that in their top ten, and since it was more frequent than any other game... Hey, number 1 spot. Still though, geez.

Yeah, I really didn't get the FFX for top spot selection either.  I'm not surprised RPGs were so pervasive on the list, but I kind of figured another game would snag the top spot.  Not that FFX is bad, but when I think greatest game of all time, FFX isn't the first game that comes to mind.

Final Fantasy X (2001)
Final Fantasy VII (1997)
Dragon Quest III (1988)
Dragon Quest VIII (2004)
Machi (1998)
Final Fantasy IV (1991)
Tactics Ogre (1995)
Final Fantasy III (1990)
Dragon Quest VII (2000)
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998)
Dragon Quest V (1992)
Far East of Eden 2 (1992)
Sakura Taisen (1996)
Dragon Quest IV (1990)
Final Fantasy V (1992)
Xenogears (1998)
Dragon Quest II (1987)
Sakura Taisen III (2002)
Kingdom Hearts (2002)
Streetfighter II (1992)

Number 16!?!?

Anyways, its just peoples opinions.  Its a poll, and polls are not accurate.  If they had responses from every single gamer in the world then, yes, it would be accurate.

And best game ever?  That is nearly an impossible choice to make.  All games have their strengths and weaknesses, all games excel where other games fail, some games fail where others excel.  One cannot truly choose the greatest game ever.

Machi is a Japan-only Adventure title for the Saturn.  Here's an auction for one:

Looks pretty interesting. If only I had a modded Saturn...and my Japanese was a bit better.

Note how over half the list is Square Enix games.

Note also that DQ7 made the list. The Japanese are fucking insane.

Look how low Resident Evil 4 is, those crazy Japanese. And what about Metal Gear Solid and Secret of Mana. Bah.

Where is Fallout 2 and Planescape: Torment?!

Oh, right, Planescape just came out like 3 months ago in Japan.  Poor, poor PC Gaming in Japan.

Pfft, the games wouldn't have probably made the list anyway since they were made by American devils.  Now if they'd been Square Enix games, then we'd be talking.

Hey, PlaneScape and Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 were published by Sega in Japan.  Sega!  They're Japanese!

Though, honestly, that brings the total amount of PC games in Japan that aren't hentai, love adventure, or Falcom-developed to like 12.

Well apparently a lot of Japanese gamers and myself don't agree on what the bestest damned game evar is. But seriously, Final Fantasy X? For the love of all things sacred, WHY?!

Wow. I love my RPGs as much as the next person, but FFX at the top of the list shocked me. Its offical, the Japanese are nuts.
