I have a feeling that this system might tank. I can't put my finger on it but I doubt it'll have the mass appeal of the Wii.  Unless they flood it with shitty shovelware that the general populace eats up, that is:/

reigon lock = no buy until smasn bros,fire emblem and a zelda game with normal controls. from the research ive done it seems european importers is the primary reason for reigon locking.(not blaming you guys)
i predict wii u will fare like the dreamcast.

Preorders are already selling out...regardless of what you think of the system it's no Dreamcast in terms of sales.

Though I seriously doubt it will do as well as the Wii did.

uh dreamcast had one of the most most successful launches in history. it wasnt the complete failure its sometimes pegged as.

The Dreamcast's Japanese launch was a complete disaster.  It literally only had four games, and they were all terrible.  Shockingly they didn't sell many systems at first...

Its US launch (which was almost a whole year later) was considerably more successful.  Probably Sega's most successful launch, though it still doesn't even come close to what the PS2 did the following year.  It's all relative, I guess.

Anyway, this is Nintendo we're talking about.  They certainly have the production capacity and we're still a couple months out and yet Gamestop is no longer taking pre-orders since they're all sold out already.  What does that tell you?

I gave up my Wii-U preorder to a friend of our family when I told them about how they'd be waitlisted.

That was my good deed of the day.

And due to shitty Gamestop/EB Employee Discounts, and the fact the job pays like all shitty retailers do, 3/4 of us who pre-ordered it at work have cancelled it due to limited income.  The last guy lives on his own, it may be 4 for 4 soon.

I've read a few times that playing Wii games on the Wii U will not make them look better with the magic power of technology. I'm might be wrong though.

While it's not resolution upscaling I actually do wonder if the HDMI could put out a clearer picture. It's been noted by people with the GC Digital Cable that games look much nicer over that than when played on the Wii through its component cables, so hopefully something similar can happen with Wii games and HDMI there.

Hopefully nintendo has been realizing this and has been making HD versions of key games released for Wii. That wouldn't surprise me in the least actually.
