Ragnarok Odyssey

Whoo, this one is coming soon from XSEED, but I decided that I wanted to spend extra money to import it from THE FAR EAST.  Anyone else excited for this one?

I enjoyed it a lot at E3. It was a bit goofy in some areas, but definitely felt like something that could have a lot going for it as a handheld action RPG.

And because I cannot for the life of me remember, doesn't it have four-player local coop?

Local and Online, up to 4 players.  The one disappointing thing is that I got a DLC code for a "gunslinger" in the package... but I can't redeem it on US PSN.  Booo.

Create an extra profile on your system, create a JP PSN account on that profile, redeem the DLC code on that PSN account, and profit? I know that works with PS3 DLC at least.

Unfortunately, the Vita doesn't allow multiple profiles, otherwise I would've used on of my myriad "Hey, I want to play demos from everywhere in the world" accounts.

I just got a legitimate sadface in my heart from that explanation.

And if I score a Vita, we'll have to hit up some coop.

I'll probably grab this, I liked what I played of the Japanese demo and it seems like the kind of thing the Vita could use right now. Should probably move this over to multiplayer later though.

If I had a Vita, I'd definitely pick this up.  It looks pretty awesome.

How close is this to, say, Monster Hunter?

It's pretty close.  Same overall structure.  Faster-paced combat, more customization, lighter ambiance.

I was watching a youtube clip and MH is a pretty close resemblance as far as quest organization and execution, but the combat looks way more like a video game than a semi attempt at a simulation. I say that due to the fact that this game knows its a video game and is not shamed to show it with aerial combat and super combos.

I believe that Monster Hunter tries to be a simulation in a fantasy world with the stamina meter and having to cook food and the awkward controls to factor in weight of the weapons.

RO looks more like King of Dragons with Monster Hunter quest structure.

And that's probably why I more easily enjoyed the demo. It's literally just running up and beating the crap out of things, rather than fighting with controls for an experience that isn't as fun but admittedly is probably far more rewarding.

Is there a demo for the US yet?  Too much of a pain to switch accounts on the Vita...

The game has been out for about 3 weeks now, anyone playing this?

I got it a week ago and am really enjoying it now.  It took me a few days to grasp the card system and to even find the blacksmith and other vendors, but now it is an addicting and complete package in my mind.

I want to try out the online multiplayer and sending items through Near.  Apparently when you send an item through Near, you are sending a copy of the item, which obviously encourages trading.  Anyone on your friends list can receive it, as well as "streetpass" people (see what I did there?)

If anyone is interested, my PSN ID is Mojotron.
