Wasn't really clear from my previous post, but I ****ing loved Origins, thought Awakening was pretty good, and DA2 was alternately awesome and disappointing. The whole finale? Awesome. The lack of choice in certain outcomes and scenarios? Disappointing. The more console-friendly combat and new skill trees? Awesome. The re-used maps and battlegrounds? Disappointing. The dialog, characters, and Friendship/Rivalry? Awesome. The lack of armor custoimzation? Disappointing.
Overall, I liked DA2 a lot, but had weird, specific gripes. I was far from enraged, and I want to play it again with some DLC added, but I dunno if I want to do that right the hell now. Cautiously optimistic, gonna wait and see.

I liked DA2's combat better than DA1, but just about everything else was worse. Maybe they'll get a better balance this time around.

so would i possibly enjoy DA2 if i never played the 1st one? i tried to get into mass effect but i wanted the melee combat from kotor and its mainly guns.

You might, since the main plot is largely unconnected, but the world and the characters draw a lot from the backstory and lore established in the first game, so I would recommend getting the ultimate edition of Dragon Age: Origins first.

i liked the first one. i got stuck around the end. i played as a rogue and towards the end some things would just destroy me like some qunarri bandits and and a battle or two in denerim. so i never really finished and i wanted to since it felt close to the end. then i played the demo for two as a rogue and got crushed by the first ogre, so i'm thinking maybe i need to be a warrior class? i didn't play two cause i was soured by that ogre battle. that said i kind of hope that three hits the mark for me.
side note my roommate miss heard me say, "dragon age origins" and thought i said, "dragons hate oranges" so now that's what we call it.

Mages are actually the most powerful in both games.
They're not so good at the beginning, but they destroy the endgame.

That second earthy, almost tolkien-esque, tree environment looks gorgeous.
If this is any indication, WRPGs may in fact be on their way to become pretty enough to entice me!

Much is already known about Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, due out autumn 2013. We know Dragon Age 3 had longer pre-production than either Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect or Dragon Age 2. And one level in Dragon Age 3 is said to be as big as all of Dragon Age 2's levels.

That environment is indeed beautiful. I'm impressed. Definitely looking forward to this.
