Just started Folklore, but my used copy didn't come with a manual and how I'm having some trouble with the menus. How do I switch folk?

I'm in Ellen chapter one right and I just acquired that big bird thing.

Hey, so far I've seen two menu's (de status menu, and the one where you can check karma and the picture book), could there be a third menu hidden behind a button I haven't tried yet?
