The sob story is here. But it's genuine, trust me.

When I was with my last +1 (now -1) our cute kitty had the same problemo. It wasn't a complete blockage so the options weren't so dire, but the diet was ridiculous. It was challenging because we also had two cats. I'll glady contribute when I get home from work. (too early for wallet diving now)

(I miss that cat 10000x more than I miss the woman)

that's a beautiful cat. Was it a "C/D" diet and was it the Hills brand?

I'm donating for you, Pat! I completely understand where you're coming from, as our previous cat went through the same thing. He kept getting bladder infections, and had trouble urinating. We spent far too much money fixing him up. The final(3rd) time, they took an x-ray and saw some type of lump on his bladder. He was 11. We don't have endless cash, so we made the terribly difficult decision to put him down. I still miss him. I even have a picture of him(Merlin) here in my office at work.
I want you to get your cat back. Cats are so great. We now have 2 1-year old kitties that are fun and loving. They, just like my awesome dog, make my days better. Especially on the ones where I feel especially crappy.
Clive sounds like a great cat. Good luck with everything.

Wow. I didn't know all that about Merlin.

I wish I understood more about what causes these UT problems in cats, and especially male cats.

Thank you so much for your support!

The Little Lady's cat passed away not too long ago (short enough time that she still cries when she thinks about poor Kali) so of course we want to help, so donation sent along with best wishes and thoughts!

If you check the link, you will see that Clive's story is now over.

Refunds are available if you wish to have your donations refunded. We no longer need a full $2000 since the vet did not bill us for the surgery (but we do need about $400 minimum, and any more than that I can pay back my parents or donate to the vet clinic).

I haven't cried this much, and this intensely, ever before in my life.

That's such a bummer, man. After all you guys went through. I know you still have bills to pay, so I'm not interested in a refund.
I remember when we made the tough choice to put Merlin down. My wife, who tends not to be an emotional person at all, was a wreck for several days. That cat was my bestest buddy, so it really affected me as well. I've always been a cat person at heart, so after a few months we decided to adopt a new kitty. We ended up with 2 sisters. I would recommend after time has passed and bills are paid, that you consider adopting again. As you've learned, having an animal around is a wonderful thing.

Our 2 kitties. Cersei on the left, and Appolymi on the right:

Likewise you have our deepest sympathies and we absolutely do not want a refund either.  Losing a pet is losing a family member, it sucks.

Sorry to hear about that Pat.  Pets undoubtedly become members of the family and it hurts to see em go :-(

Thanks everyone for the support.

So far a lot of good has come from two places:

1) our remaining cat, Ms. Freya. She's 3, and she's feisty as hell, never bonded with me like Clive did. But whenever I cry she comes running up to me and meows and rubs herself against my leg.
2) I bought this 5-CD "guided imagery" collection a long time ago, and there was one that I never really jived with called "Restoration" -- it was about dealing w/ grief and loss. And I was like "I haven't really lost anyone or anything" so that particular disc was worthless. Last night it made a ton of sense.

Grim -- Merlin sounds like a frigging amazing cat. Your two new kitties look adorable. May they grow to be strong and live many many years!

Geez... I'm so sorry.  Pets are innocent, even if they can't communicate, usually actions with them speak louder than words.  With a person, sometimes we get times where we question if they're "really our friend" or if they "really like you" or whatever; with pets, it's clear as day, they can't hide it.

I hope you don't stay too upset about this for too long.  I'm sure kit is in a better place or at least at peace and without pain.  And maybe somewhere down the line, another cat will be so lucky to have a great owner (and there are good and bad owners, the fact you were willing to go so far for Clive definitely puts you as the former).

I'm sorry to hear about your loss dude. It may have been a pet, but he may as well have been your brother from the sound of it. Just remember, you gave him a good life, even if it was undeservingly short, and that you also have another lovely kitty friend who's there for support. Cats are pretty good at being there when you need it.

Makes me miss my pall Meep...
