is the best analysis of why the Star Wars prequels were so friggin terrible that I've ever seen. It's seriously long, though. Like almost as long as the movies. So make sure you have some time.
Conclusion: there was a
lot
more wrong with those movies than the actors. Actually they had some decent actors but gave them shit to work with.

2015 for a new entry? Isn't that a bit soon considering there probably isn't even a working script yet?

Who cares. They have to money, and that's at the end of the day the point of all this.

On the plus side, Star Wars characters for KH3.
You know? That was my first thought on reading this myself. Second thought is , I wonder if Disney will be willing to release unedited versions of the original STar Wars films again since the last version that did that is now out of print.

I was referring to the old new trilogy as a whole since even when they did get a more appropriately aged Annie he still wasn't a likeable or sensible character. Moreover a good deal of Episode 1's issues wouldn't have been a problem if Annie had been older, Pandabear had been left on the shelf until Episode 2, and either Obi Wan running solo or Qui Gon being more like an aging statesmen that Obi Wan was escorting for the negotiating purposes (or at the very least Annie and Obi Wan having the relationship Obi Wan and Qui Gon had in that movie; minus the getting ganked by Maul at the end part). Maybe I should've phrased my previous post better.
But yes, I will concur that there is a whole laundry list of reasons as to why the old new trilogy failed. For instance Lucas wasting an entire film flaffin' about with the Chosen One's Midiclorians, Tattoine's Pod Racing, and Naboo's Gungans.

I'd even take Uwe Boll over George Lucas.
It'll be funnier at least.

Pretty much what I'm going for, though the humor would be unintentional. Mortal Kombat Annihilation type of unintentional comedy.

Nope, apparently Fox will retain the rights to the orignal six movies.
We're never going to get it.

I'm optimistic about the series. If Disney gets the right director and script then Star Wars may be great again. Lucas seemed to lose his zeal in the prequals, or had too much control.

He lost his zeal and replaced it with stubborn adherence to awful ideas. I think the original movies were more a product of someone keeping him in check and vetoing flagrantly awful ideas.
But I agree. I'm very optimistic now.

I was under the impression that he wanted to pander more to younger audiences by watering everything down. From making Greedo shoot first, to arming the government with Walkie Talkies to assist in taking down ET, and reducing the body count in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull by having Indy pull off a pacifist run (Iji style thankfully), to pretty much the entirety of Episode 1's bullshit.

Steven Spielberg, not George Lucas.
