Some may consider that a spoiler... but yeah.

I picked Y over X for a similar reason - decided the guy on the cover was cooler.  Also, lots of people were getting X, because they liked one or two of the mega evolutions that were exclusive to it more than the ones exclusive to Y.

Yeah, I picked Chespin, if I knew the fire-flitless-bird was a free download I wouldn't have picked Charmander to counter the weaknesses of grass-type....
Sigh.

I'm stuck at the Pokemon-version of Versailles.  I found that dude's pokemon, but where do I go now?

Oh right, sorry, first go to the second floor and go out onto the balcony. You'll get a scene there.

The box/retail version of the game has an insert that says how to get the free Torchic.  I was already committed to Team Froakie anyway, but I think that insert might have swayed some people away from Fennekin.  Froakie, Torchic, and that's why I
Code: [Select]
chose Bulbasaur after the Sycamore battle.  Such riches aplenty so early on.  Even without these bonuses, it's pretty easy to get a balanced team before even the first gym battle.

The only "new" pokemon I'm using a lot is Flabebe, because it's a fairy type, but I hope I can find a fairy type that doesn't have grass moves since I also have a Budew I'm raising because I really want a Roserade.

ASIDE: I friended a bunch of ya's.

Cool.  So, what's the nature of everyone's starter?  My Froakie is bashful.

This is one of those games where it's all the little things that really add up.  Even something simple like dialogue.  I chose a girl trainer and I like that NPCs talk to me as if I'm a girl.  I remember RPGs, even recent ones, where I would create a girl character and the characters would still talk to me as if I were a guy.  Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology did that.  One mission was where I had to spar with Stahn because he didn't want to spar with Rutee because she was a girl and he didn't like to hit girls.  I looked at the screen dumbfounded and was all like, "Dude, *I* AM a girl!"  On the opposite end was Fate/Extra where my female familiar started talking to me in a flirty manner and I was about to shout "cop out!" when one of the dialogue choices read, "You realize I'm a girl, right?"

Wonder trades are fun too.

I'm having too much fun with this.
