Am I the only one who still thinks of Indiana Jones when I hear fedora?

I bet most people don't even realize that what he wears is a fedora.  But yes, it is.  A fedora that's been beat to heck and back.  What most people call fedoras are technically called a Trilby. :)

Anyway. Just got done with the second Gym. The gyms are a lot more creative this time around. They are straightforward so far, but they each have more of a cool asthetic too it.

I'm also regretting grabbing Fennekin. I love it, its just that I should have picked a grass type for the first one, seeing as I can get a free fire type from that mystery gift, and then a water type later on. Really enjoying the game though. I do not like the huge time gap between gym 1 and 2 though. Gym battles are always the progression chart for me, and if I don't fight one in a long time, I don't feel like I'm making any progress. Anyone else feel that?

I've just been working on catching folks, and I just arrived in the big town after the first gym.  I feel the same way you do about progression, though.

Allegedly a game breaking bug is in the game.

If you save in the "middle" of Lumiose City, reloading will it cause the city to freeze up and render it COMPLETELY unplayable.

Be warned!!

Started this sucker up today.

Froakie all the way. Got a female one and named her Froqueen.

Friend code for all you interested folks: 3926-4218-6252

EDIT:

My Fletchling's ability is Big Pecks. So naturally these other Pokemon just can't handle Fletchling's BIG PEC(K)S.

Credit to CptSandBlaster on Reddit - the fight Alakazam was born for.

(Although he lamented not having the mega evolution stone, because Mega Alakazam has enough spoons for everybody.)

I was kinda hoping for a female starter too, since female starters are really rare, but, alas, I have a Froaking instead of a Froqueen.

And consider yourself added

Added you Tunnels.

I just discovered a very nice incentive for us to all register each other. The Safari Zone in this game allows you to catch certain types of pokemon based on your friends list.

For example

Dincrest allows me to go to a Bug-type safari zone
Tooker = Ground
Dice = Fire
Turnbased Dude = Flying
Kofvscapcom = Rock

I need moar.

Does X and Y use your 3DS friends list? Or do you have to re-register everyone on a pal pad equivalent?

The bad news is that it gives everyone whatever name they've chosen for their character in the game.  So you may or may not actually know who your friends are. :D

For example, I freaked RPGFan's own Kyle Miller out last night by starting up a voice chat with him and asking if he'd do a trade.  He didn't know that I almost always name my game characters Jonas.

So perhaps I should note then that my avatar in Pokemon Y is a female trainer named Cresta.

And it's amusing that in Grieg's game I open up the Bug Safari, especially since in the last Pokemon game I played, my unexpected MVP/favorite was a bug type.

EDIT: And for anyone (Grieg?) who's a Flabebe-line fanatic, answer me two simple yes/no questions: Do these Pokemon eventually learn more fairy type moves than just Fairy Wind?  And if not, is there a fairy gym so I can give Floette a second fairy move to supplement its grass moves?

Don't get me wrong, I love Fairy Wind, but my Floette is top-heavy with grass moves (which are equally awesome) but I want another fairy move to balance it.  It's like, I have this really great grass Pokemon (
Code: [Select]
Ivysaur) but I almost never want to use it because Floette has better grass moves and none of the grass-types weaknesses.

There is a TM you get from
Code: [Select]
The Fairy Gym that will teach you a stronger Fairy-type move. :) Also make sure to pick up a Shiny Stone at
Code: [Select]
The Gogoat Ranch to evolve your Floette. :D

Also the way I understand it, you will be a Bug-type Safari in EVERYONE's game, Neal. You actually have wild Butterfree and Beutifly in your Safari Zone, which is cool because you can't catch Beutifly in the game itself without your Safari Zone.

For anyone else who is curious about who has what in their Safari Zone, I've got a list here for you.

TurnbasedDude (Flying): Wild Pidgey and Hoothoot
Dice (Fire): Wild Magmar and Slugma
Tooker (Ground): Wild Phanpy and Dugtrio
Tunnels (Fairy - how appropriate): Wild TOGEPI (<3) and Swirlix]
KofvsCapcom (Rock): Wild Nosepass and Pupitar
Dincrest (Bug): Wild Butterfree and Beutifly.

No one has told me what my Safari Zone has, so when you guys get to it, let me know, I'm dying to find out if I have anything good in there.

Also, from what I've heard, you all unlock a THIRD pokemon in your Safari Zone if you are online at the same time as me, so If I see you online I'll check it out and update your list.
