Nintendo said twice that it was coming this year. Excuse me for believing the game's own publisher. :/

It's a bit late, but after several other games in the past I tend to not believe a game is actually going to come out soon without more substantial information being shown, like characters and the game being named. Now that this is done and they announced 2015 as the release date I'm reasonably confident we'll see it then, whereas "X" always seemed to be shown too early.

Live Stream Trip Report X:

The PC was set to female this time (and I noticed a glitch where the custom character's bust needed an extra second to load, so the custom character's bust tended to spontaneously grow about a half an inch).

You need 1000 TP to revive a fallen character.

The other characters will make requests that, if performed, will boost a gauge called Soul Voice (which is located over the left side of the Arts pallet) which seems to increase the frequency of the QTE prompts.

Above the right side of the Arts Pallet is a locater of where you are in perspective to the currently targeted enemy both in terms of side you are facing and elevation you are standing on (basically whether you're holding the high ground, the low ground or if you're fighting on the same relative elevation).

You can dash, swim faster, and take running jumps.

Gear has level restrictions.

And the player tried taking a level 45 behemoth seen in the opening area and took nearly 78k HP in damage in response.

Xenoedit:

Forgot to mention but it seems that certain Arts only recharge with the appropriate weapon equipped.

Also there seems to be a lot more treasure chests scattered about the overworld this time, and they come in many more flavors (even if one of those flavors is a huge steaming pile of shit).

arrggghhh is there a link???

Literally, between this and Zelda, I think all my gaming hours will be used up for all of 2015 (and by that, I assume XCX will be taking up 90% of that...)

Awww wittle Monado!

If the character models didn't make it somewhat obvious, Kunihiko Tanaka (Xenogears, Xenosaga Ep1) is back as a main artist.

Dice, that's not a tiny monader, that's the actual monader.

The humans are the giants, and the Homs are tiny little things JUST LIKE IN FANTASTIC PLANET.

I'm not feeling this game at all. And I missed the train with Xenoblade since I never ended up owning a Wii, so right now I'm seeing an RPG with gorgeous landscapes that doesn't do anything for me.

I'll probably get a Wii U for Bayo 2 and if that happens I'll see if I get this or not when is released after seeing reviews and some impressions.

There are two important things that you should know. First, there will be giant robots to ride around and fight in. And second, is that you missed out on one of the best JRPGs in recent memory (like Dragon Quest VIII was where the bar previously set; and XBC blew it away easily).

But the tl;dr of XBC1 was that yeah, you got really fucking gorgeous landscapes and worlds (with excellent BGMs) to frolic around in, and I mean frolic (pretty much half of my experience with XBC1 was spent thinking to myself how most RPGs would kill to have even one of these vistas as their game's environmental centerpiece, and even in the case of a game actually sporting something like that, it'd either be cutscene or background fodder or at the very best case, you got this neat little trail to get the guided tour of all the highlights; though with XBC1, the general rule of thumb was that if you could see it, you could go there (unless it made literally no fucking sense as to why anyone would go there; and in certain cases, you could still go there)).

But yeah, what's been shown thus far has mostly been the game's starting area. Maybe a mix of the Colony 9 region/Bionis's Leg areas from XBC1 at most (two regions in a game that had roughly two dozen). We've seen little more than a flyover of the first population center (there were five in XBC1, not counting side areas or other former habitats). Not to mention what wasn't shown during this year's E3 like the giant robots, any of the NPCs or sidequests, and probably the other half of the game's mechanics like the Records/Achievements, the possible return of the Gem mechanic, Party/NPC Affinity, and so much more.

This game is driving me nuts. It has so many shades of Xenogears and Xenosaga. All time favourites of mine. I can't fucking wait.

Every time I see a little more of this game, I see a bit more xenoblade...and granted it was a fun romp for a while...too much fetch quest shit. The entire game was a goddamn fetch quest. I WILL NOT BE SWAYED SO EASILY THIS TIME DAMNIT!

On the bright side, there wasn't really any dungeons (like 2 or 3? Most places were field maps) to go through to fetch said items and quick travel points were literally *everywhere* that it wouldn't take anymore than two to five minutes to get to a fetch location (given that you unlocked all major landmarks).  Quests are like 90% optional, and doing most of them ensures the rest of the game is real easy (super bosses aside).

So I think YMMV.

I will say one thing, for all the xeno talk, this game bears no resemblance to xenosaga for me. I mean, I played xenogears and all 3 xenosagas, and this has a very different feel compared to them. I think that's a benefit though, given the bad rep xenosaga tends to get.

I hope they're all still super-British. Nice change of pace from the same voice actors again and again, honestly.
