*sigh* I need to remember never to go the Gamefaqs board for this game again. I wanted to waste a few minutes while I waited for my breakfast to cool off, and thought it would be a good idea to check out what topics were being discussed. Five seconds later I am head desking over the plethora of topics over how people are boycotting the game over the lack of skimpy jail bait and a bust slider. I officially hate the fandom for this game (or at least this vocal minority). >.>

What's funny is they're sticking with a pretty moderate size anyways; they didn't go the smallest route, and the largest are basically balloons.  I probably would have complained about the slider myself, but it's just so awkwardly framed in being 1 of 2 physical appearance options (...for females anyways, male avatars just getting the 'Height' slider).

But yeah, Gamefaqs is the worst.  Literally any topic remotely dealing with sexual topics will start to bash "SJWs" in some way or form.  I go there for game advice when I'm stuck and gtfo.

Nintendo of Europe sent out review codes earlier this week. There's a review embargo in place, but expect to see plenty of previews. So if you want to go in blind, take caution :)

Edit: Lin is still 13. Her bikini-options have a lot more fabric than they used to, though. Saw one that is downright modest.

After seeing some spoilers in Japanese, I'm trying to go in as blind as possible.... my anticipation is killing me though.

I don't get the complaints, though. There are still half a dozen adult women to dress up in skimpy outfits (or badass armour), you just can't stick the 13-year-old in a bikini that would get her banned from the beach (or invited to Nudist Beach).

Ironically, I don't think anyone would argue that the censorship applied to the members of Nudist Beach was a bad thing (I thought it pretty funny, anyway, especially when it was completely unnecessary).

I'm opposed to localization-censorship as a sort of general principle, but I don't think a couple tweaks to character outfits is a big deal, and I don't care for loli fanservice, anyway.  I'd be a lot more worried if they were modifying the text to remove religious references, or something like that.

My real problem is the platform.  I really liked Xenoblade, and I really want to play this game, but I don't generally buy a console until it has at least three games of interest, and this brings the Wii-U up to one.  Right now, even the Vita would be a better buy.

Frankly, the Bust Slider is nothing compared to the removal of Tharja's Trophy in Smash 4 3DS, and I'm far more worried about what kind of hacksaw they took to FE:Fates than this (I suspect that there's going to be a lot more 'Companions' this time around).

That said, I can only hope that the Bustly Default size is enough to mimic KOS-MOS's, as that's who I'm going to make for my first run's MU.

More importantly though:

What's 'your voice' on the matter.
In my vision, I see that one of us is going to KO the other.

Speaking of fanservice, has anyone noticed how tight Lao's pants are? Someone definitely wanted to make sure his butt looks great.

I looked up one thing, but that was mostly because the character (in English) sounded suspicious and I didn't want to get too attached to them.

Ironically, those fans with allegally "better" standards and priorities are in many cases worse than those who are displeased with the changes and are perfectly fine with their loli fanservice or the customization maniacs that want their bust slider. There's also the whole thing with perception and context, but that's a very messy subject.

More than any of that though, the issue for the longest time has been Nintendo's misguided family friendly image in the West and a league of insufferable fans making excuses for them. Is as simple and as annoying as that.

Woah!  I had to squint, but that's cool they actually tell you the VA's name.

*squeeeeeaaalll* x)

Mary Elizabeth did like ALL the sexy ladies in 2000's anime, and I always thought she had a soothing voice and kinda wanna use her voice "for old time's sake"....
But Kira Buckland really won me over for Edna in Zestiria...
DAMMIT CARINA REEVES (AND ADAM HOWDEN) IS THERE AND I FEEL OBLIGATED.

Ideally I'd do two playthroughs (uh oh, I'm setting myself to be disappointed by the game at this rate aren't I?).  I'd love to control a fella the next playthrough and make it "Shulk Time".

TBH though I'm not nearly as invested in hating on censorship 'on principle' though... I don't always agree with it, but I've yet to see any from of it that has 'ruined' the core concept, message, themes, and most importantly, actual gameplay itself of a title to be upset by it.

By any chance, has there been any more info on the Dolls/Skell model kits by Kotobukiya? Haven't seen anything on this since the announcement.

Generally I am against censorship, but there are exceptions. GameXplain made a short video about the changes between the Japanese and English versions and it literally comes down to two things and only two things. The bikini costumes on Lin cover her up a bit more (remember she is only 13 in the game that wasn't changed, however the bikini's are unchanged for the rest of the female cast), and the bust slider was removed. GameXplain says that is it, the only two changes made to the entire game. Meanwhile gamefaq's is turning into 4chan over this, and it's highly depressing. I used to really enjoy chatting with people over there :(

Because seriously, their message boards have been devolving into a cascade of shitposting every time something releases since the start of the millennium. This is nothing new or different or at all noteworthy.

Yeah Gamefaqs was my first "forum hangout" spot way back when.  It's definitely devolved, you can't really have a good conversation about a damn thing on there.  I think I gave up on one "argument" when someone responded with Thunderf00t and realized there was totally no point in talking to that void.  I just like to stick to asking questions and helping others nowadays.  The opinion topics get real stupid real fast.

I'm just snowballing, and again, I'm setting myself up to hate this game at this rate, but this is the most excited I've been to own a game in YEEARRS. :)

Saying that GameFAQs' Message Boards have 'devolved' implies that they were ever above the low and base of Internet shitposting whitenoise, and this is a completely false assertion.

The only thing they have over 4chan is the lack of porn (and that trait is only of a questionable worth on its own).
In my vision, I see that one of us is going to KO the other.

Ygg welcome to my ignore list. *gasp* I am censoring you!...and I am okay with that.

Now can we drop this stupid topic, I brought it up because it was a minor frustration not because I wanted to poison the discussion here. My apologies for not realizing that it would do the latter. >.>

I always find it funny that the people who take this hardcore "principled" stance on censorship in video games claim to be in it for the games, and thus should be at least somewhat familiar with some aspects of "nerd" culture and thus should know what the term "Lawful Stupid" means. In fact, they usually do, but unfortunately they also seem to lack the ability to make the obvious connection.

By the way, before you start making asinine Orwellian comparisons in your head like such people are wont to do, you might want to consider that his message doesn't apply to people doing it to their own works because they feel that would be better received, regardless of what a incredibly loud minority of people care so much about. You'd probably get an aneurysm if I told you about how many movies have had to get recut over and over just so they wouldn't get X/NC-17 ratings. Better never watch Robocop again.

As far as the actual conversation the rest of you guys had though, given that I've seen a lot of you also give very cultural relativism type of arguments in the past I'm kind of surprised you'd even bring up her being underage here considering how this is a game from Japan. A general dislike for bottom-of-the-barrel sex pandering, I can get, but we're on a internet where we can also find people getting off to half animals, farting, and being mocked for having a tiny penis. Loli doesn't even really register in my brain anymore.

And that removal of the bust slider was really unnecessary if the underage thing was really the whole problem. I dunno, I like playing with character appearances. I usually find boob sliders completely superfluous but I'm sure someone out there loves screwing with them.

Sorry Rana, I'm done now.

The fact that a lot of you see like I'm on the "wrong" end of the spectrum going by the status quo of this green forum is pretty disappointing to be honest.

I will at least give it that Nintendo seems to be working under a double standard finally letting M-rated games like Senran Kagura and Binding of Isaac on their systems and still pull shit like this. Getting rid of the Loli-fanservice I can get, but doing away with the oppai slider just seems a bit archaic in this new age of Nintendo.
