I don't know, they're both pretty stupid looking.  It's a little weird that they censored her legs so much though...went from totally exposed to almost totally covered.  Legs are dirty I guess.

I think the biggest fashion offence here is still her dorky haircut :P .... I like the new top but the pants kind of throw the whole thing off again.  Still, kinda glad, I'm not really for a bikini that revealing on a minor.

I thought that's because the legs were still in their default equip, and not in 'Sun Worshiper' mode.

Bonus points for being tall enough that the camera was stuck at boob level for her when other people were talking to her, so pretty much every time she started talking, you were looking at her from the boobs up. Hell, I doubt that Melia could talk to Vanea 'face to face' without first finding a big ass crate to stand on or something because she probably couldn't see her face past her cleavage.

On one hand, censorship always sucks. On the other, I'm getting fed up of fan service. As I get older I find it to be more and more creepy. Is it really that outrageous to have a game where female characters have legitimate battle attire?

EDIT: She's 15 and even younger in the JP version? You have got to be kidding me :/ Yeah, if they kept the bikini armor and bumped up her age, it should have been at least 18.

There was a surprising amount of "it's ok" from the RPGFan soc-med response.  I gotta say I'm surprised and a little happy.  I too don't like censorship (granted I wouldn't boycott and rally if things were), but I hate the amount of fan service in Xenoblade and other games these days... The series is definitely good for at least putting all adults in the line up and for its equal opportunity skin-showing (hell Dunban even having a skill that benefits from being as close to nude as possible), but XBX got a little carried away with itself by doing it to a minor and to the extent of not even giving her the courtesy of a full 'bra' or whatever that bandeau is.  Fuck. That.

Nintendo of Europe sent out review codes earlier this week. There's a review embargo in place, but expect to see plenty of previews. So if you want to go in blind, take caution :)

Edit: Lin is still 13. Her bikini-options have a lot more fabric than they used to, though. Saw one that is downright modest.

*sigh* I need to remember never to go the Gamefaqs board for this game again. I wanted to waste a few minutes while I waited for my breakfast to cool off, and thought it would be a good idea to check out what topics were being discussed. Five seconds later I am head desking over the plethora of topics over how people are boycotting the game over the lack of skimpy jail bait and a bust slider. I officially hate the fandom for this game (or at least this vocal minority). >.>

I don't get the complaints, though. There are still half a dozen adult women to dress up in skimpy outfits (or badass armour), you just can't stick the 13-year-old in a bikini that would get her banned from the beach (or invited to Nudist Beach).
