How was Magical Mirror, anyway? I always figured that the relatively easiness of a Kirby game would be well suited to something more exploration oriented.

One of the best ones.  Take the Great Cave from Superstar, all of the classic Kirby abilities, and 9 gigantic levels (it's technically "non-linear" as far as sidescrolling goes, there are several doors per map).
