I came across a couple of Pokemon comics today that I thought were pretty cool and worth passing on. (Thanks, Reddit!)  Both are fairly dark, but they're also pretty different in tone.

Pokemon Noir - pretty much what you'd anticipate.  Like a Noir movie, but with Pokemon.  Not a whole story, just several pages.

"It's a Hard Life": a long comic with great watercolor art, made in the style of a "Nuzlocke run."  (Rules are: if a Pokemon faints it dies, only catch the first pokemon in each area, name everyone.)
The actual site is really slow, but the artist posted faster links to chapters 1-7 on this forum.

When you're done, you can find chapter 8 on the artist's own site.  It appears to be an ongoing thing, because the last page of chapter 8 was just posted yesterday.

I was reading that thread ofnreddit and read that girls Nuzlocke run earlier this morning. It's pretty damn good. I was nearly in tears at one point though....

There are lots of good Nuzlocke runs, my favorite (complete) one is: http://pettynuzlockelg.smackjeeves.com/comics/1033352/a-petty-nuzlocke-challenge-new-cover/

I get pretty invested in these damn things.

EDIT: so many typo's. I was baking a cake while I wrote this.

Zombie-chew, I probably shouldn't have chosen you!

Reading these actually made me want to try a Nuzlocke run of my own.  (Well, that and a particular soundtrack review I'm working on for the site.)  I'm playing LeafGreen, and the first time went poorly enough that I started over shortly after getting my first badge.  From my reading, it looks like people make up some of their own rules, which makes sense, since it's completely self-policed thing.  So my two changes to the rules are that if somebody in-game wants to trade, I can catch someone to trade them, and that if the first Pokemon I see in a new area is someone I've already caught two of, I can try for someone else.  I decided on that one after the third area in a row wanted to give me a Rattata. :)
