Photographic evidence.

Altough it might still be a hoax. Some have noted that the model used is actually that of The Hungering Cold.

Blue confirmed it, so it's not a hoax.  And yes, I dread the idea of the future conversations that will start.

Wait...."Improves hit raiting by 8."

That doesnt even sound like a real stat. Dont most +Hit items say "Chance to hit +X PERCENT?"

Yeah a blue might have confirmed it.....but that screenshot is bullshit. Sorry Cauton, but i call BS on that one.

And wasnt the Sword of a Thouand Truths 2-Handed? I seem to remember Stan busting that out WITHOUT a shield on.

BC is changing the way many stats are described like with critical attacks.  The hit rating is one of those.

Actually, there are a lot of new stats in BC. Apparently critical hit % is now a critical hit rating instead. And there's some new resiliance stat as well. I'm sure Keeper can say more about that stuff, but it was mentioned in this GameSpy article as well:

While retraining, I also took a look at the new character panel implemented in the beta, which has a few cool new features and some interesting changes to the way stats are displayed. To start, there's a little drop-down box where you can see detailed information on your melee, ranged and spell stats, and the way crit% and hit% are displayed have also been changed to a rating that will scale as you go up in level (which has been the subject of much debate in general chat.)

Yeah, it's to scale.  With stuff like 1% crit, gear wasn't scaling incredibly well - with this, they're able to say "While Crit Rating 9 is .9% at 60, at 70, it's only .4% crit.", to scale the gear better.
