Few things:
= Sad it's not Cavia...meaning: gameplay *could* get better, but I doubt story will be unless they get the same depressing sadist to write it *CHECK!!! (Director!)
= PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND FOOD; BRING BACK SAME COMPOSER FROM NIER :DDDDDDD *CHECK!!! (Composer!)
= I hope the same artist is back...shit, I'll have to buy another artbook then. D:  Drakengard2 is one of the best I have *CHECK!!! (Artist!)
= Weird singing bard concept... reminds me of one of the sword level up stories though:

Apparently he was picked because they wanted a gloomy game.

They really need him back. Last thing we need is another Noway being pants on head retarded/anime bullshit superpowers while trying to rescue the flaming pants on head retarded damsel in distress from the either the comically evil/pants on head retarded badguys or Caim.

Then again, it not being Nier 2 disappoints me as well since it means no Emil's super happy fun time with the impending alien invasion. But then again, we could be seeing the coverage of one or more of the short stories that occurred during the whole 'Fall of Jericho/Red Eyes' clusterfuck that preceded Nier (but again, the fact that this is being called Drakengard 3 probably rules out that possibility as well).


Also the link contains some rather confusing details. Hopefully that'll get sorted out over the next week.

I think people who are expecting Nier 2 are going to be disappointed with the game.

That said, I'm interested in how it turns out.

And yeah, ho lee shit. Of all franchises to revive right at the end of the gen, this is not one I expected.

It depends on the "they" you're thinking of.
I'd call it a mixed bag (overall solid, though) of oddly placed mechanics and fun but (pretty easily) repetitive genocide.
The magic is really neat to experiment with, and dragon riding is hit or miss.
D2 fleshes out its story and present better than D1, and makes some gameplay improvements, especially that dumb camera from the first.

I'm probably the only guy on this forum that couldn't get past Nier's utter shit controls and went back to listening to the game's soundtrack instead.

Well, it's far from the worst controlling I played, plus in the second half of the game you can get a weapon that just trashes everything, letting you steamroll just to see the story.
