So some of the stuff that we previously thought was cut content has turned up as DLC.

After going through all the main events in TPP I can say that by the end of it, with the truth and twist revealed along with hearing all of the tapes, everything that happened since MGS3 up to this point in this alleged saga TPP turns it into a fever dream. And I'm okay with that given how the context of the series radically changed post-MGS2.

Also, the ways everything comes into "full circle" it works, is not what many desired but it works. I don't agree with the views of other fans have saying that TPP doesn't offer closure when Kojima's vision is all about playing with expectations and later betraying those same expectations. And incidentally, in that sense I'm sure Kojima is more than happy with the "swan song" of the series being this way.

The core gameplay is solid and the tape in which Zero visits Snake in the hospital at Cyprus is a really sweet moment and Paz's story is a roller coaster as well as somewhat frustrating if you ever cared about her since PW.

The gameplay is fun but I really wish the story content wasn't so sparse and told primarily through cassette tapes.

I'm hoping I'll have a lot of fun with Metal Gear Online 3, otherwise I see myself not picking up this game again for a good while once the side ops are done.

Hidden Ending: Nuclear Disarmament / Phantom Episode 51: Kingdom of the Flies

Checking these endings a few times it really shows how TPP was never going to have a grand finale as many would have wanted. One of the things I thought would have been nice for TPP is if the story didn't had any ruse or deception for once. But that wasn't gonna happen with the way themes are portrayed in MGS.

Still, the ending works in TPP and it is a closure despite you never go nuclear. The variety in missions really should have been bigger though.

Shameless plug here, but if anybody's interested in hearing a podcast in which my friend and I talk about Phantom Pain for a really long time, there's this.

How should we interpret the story of MGSV? The expert speaks! (2 pages long) -- Famitsu.com

"Was METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN released in an unfinished state?" That's the question that's been making the rounds on the internet since the game's release. Elements such as Venom Snake's true identity, the disappearance of "Episode 51," and the nuclear disarmament objective in FOB online missions, have left some fans wondering what to make of it. We talked to the person most suited to answering these concerns, MGS series expert Kenji Yano.
