from Metal Gear Informer:

Kojima feels he can finally create a game that captures the tension of 'The Great Escape'

---

Regarding Portable Ops still being canon or not:

Regarding other MGS4 connections, Kojima said about Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops; "If you change the Ops story, you have to change 4. If you change 4, it also becomes necessary to change Ops. Until Ops is finished, 4's story can't be finalized." -- IGN

So yeah, PO despite not being directed by Kojima it has strong ties with the main series.

PO not being in the timeline of the official MGSV site could imply something, or maybe not since Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake have been ignored in an official timeline before and that wasn't a big deal at the end of the day.

---

Kojima on MGSV storytelling and acting: Snake is not the same person anymore -- Metal Gear Informer (via: GamerhubTV, YouTube)

"Hideo Kojima talks about Kiefer Sutherland, characters and cutscenes, and how MGSV will use new ways to tell a story."

I'm going with the latter.  Ground Zeroes is so cheap for a reason.

It's less than 2 hours long.

Yeah, I'm just going to wait until it's bundled into The Phantom Pain (you know it's going to happen), so I can have the entire game on one disc, for $60.

It's less than 2 hours long.

I highly doubt many fans will put less than 2 hours into GZ.

Some new MGSV info: Healing spray, Length and Footprints

・According to the article, health regeneration is only for minor damage. When sustaining severe damage, the player will have to use a healing spray.

・The writer doesn't feel Ground Zeroes is short, they think an average player can easily put 8-10 hours into the game. The best player at Kojima Productions spent more than 100 hours discovering all secrets.

・Among the features of the iDroid app is the ability to see where other players have been detected on the map.

・They point out the Fox Engine looks 'simply spectacular', with the best facial animation in the industry, and body animations reacting to where bullets hit.

・Snake leaves footprints in the mud, which can be spotted by guards. This is just one of the things that adds to the difficulty, other things include better fields of visions for guards, randomized patrol routes and search lights; there are many things that can give your position away.

A few bits of information from Game Informer's Ground Zeroes podcast

・In Ground Zeroes there is an 11-page recap that explains in short about the events that took place before, and who the important characters are.

・There aren't a lot of cutscenes in Ground Zeroes. The longest are the one at the start (which we have seen in the first trailer) and the one at the end.

・Though the overal tone is very dark and grim, there is still humor in the game, mainly in the side missions. There is also special cameo escort mission that they think fans will like. There are at least three missions with a lot of humor in it in Ground Zeroes.

・There are no boss battles in Ground Zeroes (at least not in the modes Game Informer played, which includes the story mode).

・There is no multiplayer in Ground Zeroes.

My brother found a link on PSN last night, and ordered it through there. Did the remote download thingy from his mac to ps4, and had it ready to play in less than an hour.

Anyways, he beat it last night (he is an ardent MGSV fan), and I think he is sort of mixed on it. I watched him play through it, and I have to say. It is short.

I love me some Metal Gear, and I'll be playing it no doubt, but holy. Dare I say it's about as long as the introduction in Snake Eater? It looks like there are several ways to infiltrate and such, and there are side ops you can do as well to get your sneaking skills up to this generation, but the control scheme/UI is a bit different than what we've grown accustomed to for MGS.

DEM GRAPHICS.

Also, it's kind of odd hearing Keifer Sutherland's voice as I just picture Jack Bauer now (especially when he says "Don't fight it") haha.

Seems like it's similar to the MGS2 demo as an introduction.  I'll get it when it's cheaper, or if they make some sort of bundle when V comes out.  I heard complaints about bad voice acting...which is very strange given its predecessors.
