I read the review over in the review section as well as watching both IGN and Gamespot's video reviews but I wanted a better perspective on the game from the community.

In a nutshell, the game is really good! Great combat system, challenging throughout all the game, interesting characters with a confusing and convoluted plot, tons of stuff to do post game, tons of customization of your weapons and how characters look.
This was the 2nd game I platinum'ed, the first being the easy as hell Heavy Rain. This doesn't make the game perfect in any way, but it still has a lot of things done right.
So my recommendation is get it! It should be cheap. This is a game from the Tri-Ace I know and love (unlike Star Ocean 4...)

You know, you could try using the search function to see what old topics are here that answer your inquiry, rather than creating a new topic that will be dropped in probably a day.

Words to live by. We don't actually like closing off threads from new users, because we don't want to look unfriendly... but we don't want cluttered boards either. :)

My favorite part of the game is learning the combat system. I don't know if it was the same for anyone else, but for me there was a moment where suddenly everything clicked, and the combat system went instantly from new and confusing to badass and sexy. I went from barely putting a dent in an enemy's hp, to taking down three guys in a single turn. The story presentation makes the game a little tough to get into, but it's worth it for sure.

The story makes me grind my teeth in a different way: The chemistry is so good and the characters so amusing that the fact you get such limited interaction with them is what bums me out.

Do eeet.  He creates so many different topics about different games I'm curious how many games he actually ends up playing.  The game comparisons were somewhat decent discussion fodder, but if you just have a question about a single fucking game (or about a disc of a game ffs), just post it in the game journal thread like everyone else does.  People have mentioned that many times but it falls on deaf ears every time.

Shouldn't you be searching for jobs instead of more games to play?

There's probably a balance between a dead board and some goof starting thread after thread asking people what they think of the games recently bought or asking for the same hackneyed advice on what games to buy.

This board is dead?  I'd say it's pretty much perfect...
