Tengai Makyou 2 - Searching for the sacred sword. Sorry, Rhythm Encounter guys, looping isn't always a necessary part of a good exploration theme, of course being composed by Joe Hisaishi helps ;)

Just got "DEATHSMILES IIX Music Pack Contents Original Sound Track" in the mail today, and I must say, this is a very, very pleasant album. When I got to track 06 Field C, I with hit with this strong familiarity, like I've heard it before (which was not the case!). The reason why it was so familiar--and I guessed this right when I gave a wild guess about it--is that it was composed by Michiko Naruke. My Wild ARMS series soundtrack listening prepared me for this moment (haha). ;)

I only knew Iwadare was on the soundtrack for the Final boss theme (which was hilarious). What tipped me off that it was Naruke was the percussion and the use of strings. Enjoy: (I'll just follow suit and do Ygg's pic/track link [I'll also throw in some dragon quest as well]) :)

Derek accidentally made me discover this game "Energy Breaker." Unsurprisingly, my musical predecessor had a full review with lots of info on the game, and I found this gem of a song:

Yukio Nakajima and Yasunori Shiono!

Geez, the more I hear of Yasunori Shiono's work, the more surprised I am that he seems to have pretty much entirely fallen out of the composer scene.
Lufia: Battle 2
Lufia II: The Last Duel

In addition to that wonderful man, here's a few songs from OFF, a delightfully surreal game that is pretty much the complete opposite of Lufia! A friend told me about this game a few weeks ago, and I instantly fell in love. It's free and only about 4-5 hours long. Totally worth a play.
OFF's delightful battle theme, Pepper Steak

You know, I've always wanted to do something like this, but with a whole bunch of songs from various different series. I have nowhere near enough familiarity with this kind of thing, though...

Anyway for those who don't mind aural spoilers, Child of Light's final boss and ending themes are just fantastic. Even if the ending itself isn't so great.

SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI III NOCTURNE

Normal Battle

This day just can't get that much worse
Please, return to human being
Whatever doesn't impress it unto me
Please make this a real world

Normal Battle ~Town~

Power in the Reasons that we all are fighting for
You've given up your body your soul and heart
Yes, some of us hasten unlike lambs to the slaughter
Get the power to reach the next stage

Normal Battle ~Large Map~

Maybe you have ought to suffer
You have doomed creation and fate
You lead them all to death
You little demon are caught in our web

Fierce Battle

I'm heaven above and outside you
I have your back to the wall
Survived the fall from grace
Drink of the wine of the wrath of God

One more God rejected!
I'm heaven above and outside you
One more God rejected!
I have your back to the wall
One more God rejected!
Survived the fall from grace
Thou won't oppose the wrath of God

Hear! This one has been brought to him
For the open moment. Do you aid Lucifer, do you?
Thou! You are not supposed to abuse any of this power, heretic!
I have never been one of your enemies. Do you aid Lucifer, do you?

Boss Battle

We'll sacrifice the son of heaven
Man's greatest glimpse of fire red
Oh how they're lost in their prayers for our greatest God
Let me sleep, please! I am a man, half human
I am tired as heart and person weaken

On the name of God! I will not crack. Can you hear them?
God! I will not crack. Can you hear them?
