The new movie has its faults, but no more so than all of Trek's history.  There's a shitload more bad with old Trek than good, but for some reason, people want to just cherry-pick.  They dudebro'd Star Trek?  Get that crap out of here.  Did you even watch the original series?  It was a 60s western in space.  I can remember plenty of moments in TNG and DS9, my favorite two TV Treks, where brawling was a thing.

Loved the movie.  It wasn't as good as Star Trek II or VI, but it sure as hell was better than I, III, IV, V, Generations, First Contact, Insurrection, Nemesis, and the majority of Trek episodes throughout the series.

IV was alright, as was First Contact.  I just made a broad comparison list.

If they ever try and recast Picard in this horrible new trekverse I'll rage out with the greatest fury this information superhighway has ever seen.

Like this?

This one is better.

I gotcha.

Have you seen the directors cut of II? That's the version they use on netflix streaming and .... not a fan.

Yuuuuup.  Lots of awkward moments that should have stayed cut.
