See, I found nothing remotely redeeming about BoF1 or 2. Well, BoF1 had good music. That's about it.
Breath of Fire 1 was my first JRPG, so it will always hold a special place in my heart. It may not have had anything particularly great about it, but it was still enjoyable (for me) and was what originally got me into the genre.

The thing I found offputting about BoF1 and 2 is that a lot of magic is just hardcoded not to work on bosses. It mandates grinding, because you really CAN'T do anything in boss battles besides attack and heal. Meanwhile, AP restoring items in both games are rare enough that using magic outside of bosses is not a good idea.

It's the same kind of incoherent anti-design that plagued a lot of early JRPGs (Phantasy Star 2 comes to mind).

Oh my god.. This is such a hard thing to do (keep in mind that I have a huge backlog to go through, I havent even gotten into current gen stuff yet. I have a lot of ps1/ps2 classics to go through aswell..)

These are in no Particular Order, except for number 1

10- Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations

I absolutely love the ace attorney series, it has some of the most endearing characters ever. Godot is right up there as my favourite fictional character period. I am not ashamed to say that I cried a little bit on the last case..Outstanding.

9- Zero Escape:9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors

This game keeps popping up in my head on a daily basis. It left such a distinct and shocking impression on me. It easily has my favourite story ever. That soundtrack haunts me, I still get chills when I listen to some of the tracks. I went through all endings in a day and a half, all I did was play sleep and eat, I couldnt leave the game without finishing the story, it was that enthralling. Im dieing to play VLR(Getting a vita this fall for that) and Ever 17. I will be replaying this tale for sure every 2 or 3 years.

8- Ys Seven/Ys Origin(Leave me alone guys, I cant decide XD)

Kickass fast paced combat, great story and my favourite soundtrack ever... That's Ys Seven for me. I cant really put my finger on why I love this game so much but I just do. Ys Origin.. Oh god. I played through this one 3 times, once per moth. Another kickass soi

7- Chrono Cross

My dog died earlier in the 31st of December. Following those events, the games that Ive played were Chrono Trigger and then Chrono Cross. Chrono Trigger is a classic no doubt about it and it also deserves all the praise it gets. However Chrono Cross was a game that clicked with me, it gave me a new hope for life after such a tragic event. It is overall a beautiful game in all aspects. Not to mention that the plot absolutely crushes Chrono Trigger's.

6- Xenogears

I love convoluted plots, it should be no surprise by now. I also love me some philosofy and critical thinking. This game has it all, a plot that rivals some of the best novels ever written, beautiful music and a kickass battle system. That is all that needs to be said about xenogears

5- Metal Gear Solid 2

On that same vein of convoluted plots, here's another one. I got into the MGS series in my last summer and I went through 1,2,3 in quick succession. Metal Gear Solid's 2 blew my mind with it's complexity. I like Raiden too so(I prefer snake but cmon dont need to make a big fuss about it)..Yea.

4- Breath of Fire 3

This is a game that defined my childhood. I was born in 1995, I have very early memories of my brothers playing this game. My 10 or 11 year old self was so happy when he finally could understand and play this game. Fantastic soundtrack a simple yet deep plot and memorable characters. One of the best ps1 Jrpg's ever created and a criminally underrated game. That dragon gene system... That's probably the best thing in any jrpg battle system.

3- World of Warcraft

As much as I hate to have this game on the list, let's face it. I spent 5 years of my life playing this game religiously. I have a lot of great memories of leveling up and especially raiding.. At some point I was the best balance druid in my server. I was doing so much dps back in those days (wrath of the lich king)... I left the after I beat Deathwing on the normal difficulty, I had had enough. However I dont think I will ever forget the great days of old where I spent a big part of my life playing this.

2- Castlevania Symphony of the Night

This is another immaculate series. Exploring dracula's castle with that atmosphere, it's just outstanding.. This game is art, that's all I have to say really.

1- Final Fantasy X/ Final Fantasy VII

Alright, I can safely say that these 2 games are tied as my favourite games of all time. Final Fantasy VII is another one of those games that I distinctly remember seeing my brothers play when I was a toddler. I absolutely love everything about it. I have beaten it countless times, I felt really good when I defeated the weapons and 2 moments from that game are just amazing and provoke an emotional reaction on me. It's not Aeris, I was not really into her character. The moments Im talking about are the story of Red XIII's father and the story of Cid's Highwind dream. Those 2 moments affected me deeply, the great warrior that died selflessly(not to mention how poorly Red XIII thought of him) and the man who sacrificed his dream for the life of another(I am a big science enthusiast and that moment moved me very effectively). Of course these 2 moments were also accompanied by 2 great musical pieces.."The Great Warrior" and "Sending a dream into the universe".

Final Fantasy X.. Easily my favourite story from the final fantasy series. It has the most memorable ending of any video game( I havent even bothered to touch X-2 because I dont want to ruin the original experience. I think the story should have stayed the way it did at the end of final fantasy X). Not to mention that To Zanarkand is my favourite musical composition ever created.. I spent 250 hours alone during my first playthrough and 100 more during my 2nd playthrough. I absolutely love Final Fantasy X,  the characters, the story, the music and the gameplay everything is excellent.

Honorable Mentions: Pokemon Red, Pokemon Gold, Lunar Silver Star Harmony, Ys oath in Felghana, Medievil, Crash Bandicoot,League of Legends, Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles, Chrono Trigger,Donkey Kong Country Returns, Apollo Justice Ace Attorney and Ghost Trick. Final Fantasy IV,V,VI,VIII,IX and even XII(ye it's cliche but final fantasy is my favourite series.)

In no particular order

1. Final Fantasy VI

This game had charm, and lots of it. Gameplay wise it is probably where the series starts losing whatever dificulty it had but it is still a blast to play. I also find the sprites have passed the test of time better than certain early 3D games like FFVII and Legend of Dragoon. Not to mention you can suplex a train.

2. Suikoden II/V

I have actually played V more times than II. Story wise and music wise II is probably better but V kept drawing me back. I thought war battles were better done in V. I was not a huge fan of them in II.

3. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
By far my favourite Elder Scrolls game. The world felt more alien than oblivion and Skyrim which really drew a player in. Exploring was really fun too. I actually liked the absence of a quest marker although some of the journal hints were confusing if not plain wrong. The combat is a bit difficult to get used to although if you can manage to get a skill past 45 you will be able to hit the vast majority of the time. The ashy voices of the Dunmer are also awesome.

4. Rune Factory 3
There was such a huge jump in quality from 2 to 3 that it was surprising. Frontier was great but 3 just seemed to have everything and more.

5. Crash Bandicoot 3/Spyro the Dragon
Yes, these are here. No, it is not a mistake.

6. Shadow of the Colossus
Great game. The satisfaction of finding out the weakness of a colossi was probably the best part of the game for me although some just click with you instantly
Code: [Select]
Dat Beard
7. Trails in the Sky
This game just clicked with me. It is one of the few games where I spoke to every NPC repeatedly without regret. Each one seemed to have their own mini story going on rather than the usual "Welcome to town A" or "I have heard the villain is villainous"

8. Radiant Historia
I am a sucker when it comes to time travel games.

9. Thief 2: The Metal Age
I am not normally a big fan of stealth games but really enjoyed playing this game. The first game is also great.

10. Shin Megami Tensei III: Lucifer's Call
I really enjoyed the minimalistic story going on and the gameplay was also great.

Honourable Mentions
Crash Team Racing (I prefer it to Mario Cart)
Tomba (Play it)
Guardians Crusade
Tales of the Abyss (Only played it recently on 3DS but it jumped up to being my favourite tales game)
Xenoblade (My favourite game on the Wii...although it does not exactly have much competition)
Breath of fire IV (I hated this game for years. It was just so different to the other titles but then something clicked making it my second favourite BoF game.
Valkyria Chronicles (This game was just great)
Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness
Persona 3/4

1. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Really love this game and I beat it at least once a year. Surprised to not see it in too many top 10 lists, maybe I've just got the nostalgia glasses on. The thing I really love about this game is the many many hidden small stuff in it like the invisible treasure chests, the gameboy you can buy off the kid in the mushroom kingdom inn, the casino, Link and Samus cameos, etc. Just found the characters and dialogue really charming, Maybe someday square and nintendo will collaborate to make a sequel.

2. Chrono Trigger
Not much to say here that other people haven't already said, the game's amazing.

3. Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber
Still think this is the best game made for the N64, not sure how many people have played this though. Unit progression in this series is just really fun, spent so much time planning out the classes and formations for my squads. Alignment is sometimes annoying but it brings an interesting dynamic to squad and deployment planning. Every decision made in the story felt like it mattered too. While you couldn't make whole squads of teleporting dual-wielding ninjas like Final Fantasy Tactics, game had a lot of awesome classes.

4. Final Fantasy Tactics/Tactics Ogre
Lumped them together because I like them for the same reason and didn't want to take up two spaces on the list.

5. Front Mission 5
Just the pinnacle of the series and a real shame we never got it. Some pretty dedicated people on the internets did spend years on completely translating the game. The link system quickly became essential in this series and it feels really good when you surround an enemy with melee units that will break its face when they're linked to a sniper.

6. Final Fantasy 6
The characters and the world just draw you into this game. Bonus points for me totally not seeing the mid game twist coming and I have the memory of me just staring at the screen at 4 in the morning as the world ended( I totally thought the game was over at that point, it felt like you had enough party members at that point.) It had a really huge cast and they were all pretty well fleshed out.

7. Persona 4
3 was just a very depressing game and it was surprising to me that the two were set in the same universe. But yeah, this games been discussed to death.

8. Super Street Fighter 4 AE 2012
The game that revitalized the fighting game genre. Also probably the most balanced fighting game Capcom has ever made, hard to decide on a bottom tier in this game. Too bad I play on ps3 controller and my combos are ass
9. Suikoden 5
The most refined game of the series unsurprisingly. Always fun to figure out the plot connections between the games of the series and get all 108 stars. Only problem with the game is the obscene amount of loading times and that Georg Prime is unstoppable against everything except bosses.

10. Dota 2 and LoL( Maybe the Infinite Crisis Moba)
Mobas, like MMOs, are just giant black holes for free time, who knows how many hours of my life I have fed into this addiction. These games just make you feel good when you win and quite depressed when you get steamrolled, which is why I try to only play when I have a full team. On a side note, they are making a moba based on infinite crisis and I have signed up for the beta as it looks pretty awesome( Msg me if you guys are ever bored and want to play a round or two.

Castlevania: SOTN- There's a reason a whole bunch of games in the series after it have taken so much stuff from this
Megaman X- The game that started all the riding armors and element+animal bosses
RE 4+5- Fun with friends, more action than horror, but it's good action.
On a side note, I'm surprised people have played MM network transmission for gamecube, that game surprisingly hard.

I'm gonna copout by just posting a list with some quick notes on the bottom. I'm just not in the mood to write a lot.

1. Metroid Prime Trilogy
2. Okami
3. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GCN)
4. Mega Man X
5. Xenoblade Chronicles
6. Solatorobo
7. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
8. Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando
9. Chrono Trigger
10. Gravity Rush

* Yes, I cheated by listing a trilogy as my #1, but I just can't separate those games out in my mind. As far as I'm concerned, they're one big, awesome game.

* Not enough RPGs on this list, but it's tough when there are so many great Action-Adventure and platformer games out there.

* Two of these are actually just placeholders, as I actually haven't played them enough to really say whether or not they're that great. I'm not saying which ones, though. It's my little secret.

* In fact, I've only beaten 4 of these, but I did get at least halfway through 4 others.

* My entire Top 25 is really close, yet somehow this wasn't that hard for me...
