I still think this is the best description DA2 has ever had: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=26194844&postcount=1

Even though enjoyed DA2 I find that so hilarious and satisfying

Been reading through the character profiles and interviews on the main site and they're starting to look more interesting than I thought they'd be.  Even Dorian with his Porn 'Stache of Power.

Honestly this batch of characters is less interesting to me than DA2's batch. I've been having a hard time deciding on which three characters I am planning on using as my final group. Right now I am leaning towards Casssandra, Varric, and Dorian with my character as either a Knight Enchanter or a Warrior of some kind (depends on how early you can choose a specialization).

Well, I think it's waaaay too early to judge.  I won't get a feel for how much I like or dislike these characters until I actually hear some party banter and camp dialog.  Or whatever the equivalent of camp dialog is.  Way to early to determine what my final party is, heh.

And I do appreciate that they made a gay male character in a potential romantic role for DAI.  I probably won't romance him in my first playthrough (presuming I enjoy the game enough to run it multiple times, like Origins, Awakening, and 2), but it's cool that BioWare had the balls to include a character like him.

WTF?  Is that normally something you decide before you've even started playing the game?

Seconding this.  Really?

I agree with the above in that I usually wait for dialogue and banter.  I mean, I've read descriptions of personality traits of characters that seem to be my style, but when I actually play with them I loathe them.  And vice-versa.

Nothing wrong with being superficial and racist while playing Dragon Age.
That's like the theme of the serie...

Yes? That's not to say that it can't change when I play the game (which I suppose makes the term final slightly inaccurate), but I will generally go into a game with some kind of idea of which party members will be the ones I drag around the most often. For JRPGs I tend to just plant firmly into my party once I get them. For a game like Dragon Age Inquisition, I will switch them around to manipulate affection (or whatever the equivalent is) until I have everyone maxed out where I want them and then stick with the final party unless I ended up liking someone else more.

Yeah I could never do that.  I need to see them in story segments, use them in battle, and compare them side by side to other characters.  I often do some prior research and sometimes it informs my decisions (especially for Fire Emblem games), but I need to see characters in action before I can decide if they're worth using or not.  For example, I was pretty set on using Argilla, Serph, and Heat for the entirety of Digital Devil Saga, but I liked using Gale and Cielo during the cruise ship dungeon so much that I stuck with them for the entire rest of the game.  I went from being anti-Cielo in the early game (before you can use him in battle) to using him almost all the time.

So yeah, Inquisition.  I have no idea.  I'm not even sure what race, sex, or class my Inquisitor is going to be.  That'll be at least three hours at the character creation screen(s).

It's way more fun to mix up your party and see how different convos and events play out.

This isn't like a JRPG where you need to powerlevel.

I agree that it's too early to decide on a "final" party just yet, but reading about them ahead gives me a idea of what to expect about them going in.  I seriously doubt we've heard anywhere near these characters whole stories just yet, but I'm intrigued enough to actually want to know more.  Only way that'll happen will be to play the game and feel them out.

I don't know why, but I just get this weird feeling that this game will get the EA treatment and end up falling flat like DA2. Hope I'm wrong because its about time Bioware stepped up and started fighting for the belt again. Now, I will admit that I only played the demo of DA2 (which I REALLY disliked, but hey, I didn't like the Uncharted demo either and ended up loving the full game. However, at least Uncharted got a lot of praise to suggest that there might be more to it while DA2 got mostly panned for being a rushed cash in). I'll probably give it a go if I dig it up in a bargain bin some day, but for now I'll go by my first impressions and the general consensus.

I'm pretty much set on who my Inquisitor will be, but I'll end up spending 3 hours at CC fine-tuning what they will look like, haha.

I've said it probably a thousand times, but this is my most hyped game of the year, right before Pillars of Eternity (if that lands this year, which I am doubting). Everything I've seen for DA:I has me intrigued, and I can't wait to get my hands on Dragon Age: Keep and play around with that. Hell, I even have a countdown on my phone for when this game releases.

I actually really enjoyed Dragon Age 2. Most of the hate is because they streamlined tons of features compared to the first game and there was only a handful of areas to explore, but it made sense in context of the game and story. It did alot of things better than the first game, but I don't feel like making a list right now.
