Yea, I like achievements. I thought I would pass it along.  I went to fire up some Borderlands 2 with my lady and noticed the listing and saw it had achievements. I scoped the forums and have read a mostly negative reaction to some DRM. Others said that they disabled the cloud save and could play offline with no issues. I am on the fence but really want to support it.

Boo. I have been waiting and resisting the temptation. I am thinking a steam deal where it costs like 4 bucks or something.

I considered buying it myself but my PSX copy still works wonder and when I saw it was just the old PC port with no improvements whatsoever I lost all interest. Like MeshGearFox said, that midi music...
It's not like fan are expecting an HD remake, but at least they could have delivered the best they could do with a minimal effort.

If you want to play FFVII PC I'd recommend downloading Tifa's bootleg instead. Higher res textures, and option to change battle backgrounds and character models. By default it wants you to use the old original disks, however there is a way to do it with the newer (non-steam) version as well.

I heard the Steam version doesn't have securom this time.  No clue if it's true or not.

Those guys had some neat hardmode mods for FFVII in the works too, iirc, although I don't know if they modify the executable or not, so they MIGHT not work with the steam version.

Some do modify the executable, yeah. That's why it's best to grab the old disks or the rerelease from the SE store... achievements aren't nearly as fun to me as getting to replay the game with better graphics and music and the AC sprites and menu images. And some of the mods are random and hilarious to play with.... or brutally difficult. I tried one that had the first encounter with the two guards beat me to death. Good times. :D

There was a how-to thread on the steam forums about how to replace it with high quality music, but it got deleted.  Guess it's not exactly supported.

I have the game in my wishlist. Maybe when it goes on sale, I'll buy it.

I haven't played FF VII in 10 or 11 years, so this might be the next way I do it.  Once it's on sale.
