I finally beat tales of Xillia. Yay! It was good but could have been great.

I've barely played any games the past two months.  Not even halfway done with Ys: Oath in Felghana.  Messing around with a 3rd playthrough of Persona 3 and a 4th playthrough of Dragon Age: Origins.  I have a problem.

Just beat Persona 4 Golden. Man, that game has heart. I haven't felt like this since I played Suikoden II way back when. This has got to rank probably top 3 on my all time RPG list. Gotta go back and platinum this game for sure.

Fire Emblem Awakening
Gravity Rush
Tales of Graces F
Ys: Ark of Naphistim
Tomb Raider
The Last of Us
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD
Sleeping Dogs
Dragon's Crown
Tales of Xillia
Persona 4 Golden

Well, I suppose it is time to drop my meager list. Here goes...

The List

X-Com
Ni No Kuni
Hyperdimension Mk2
Atelier Ayesha
Persona 2 Innocent Sin
Persona 2 Eternal Punishment
Wild Arms Alter Code F
Seiken Densetsu 3
Tales of Xilia
Secret of Mana
Kingdom Hearts Final Mix 1.5 HD (no chain of memories yet)
Asura's Wrath
Chrono Trigger
Zelda Wind Waker HD
Disgaea D2
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time
Persona 4 Arena
Dragons Crown (no post game stuff)

Biggest Personal Accomplishments/ Playing Eternal Punishment and Innocent Sin back to back. Loved the narrative enough to string me through the intensely grueling gameplay. Also, making my way through Kingdom Hearts HD in spite of distaste for disney.

Evolving as a Gamer this year/ I have had a real problem in the past with games... I love em... but I was never able to play more then one RPG at a time. Call it compulsion.... this lead me to always being torn between playing something "new" and entertaining my constant urge to go back and experience things I missed or re-experience things I liked.

And then it happened... enter RETRO GAMING WEEKEND!!!! Crafting a simple routine of playing past gen titles on the weekend and current gen games on weekdays has made my gaming all the more enjoyable. I find this schedule not only has somehow enabled me to play more games, but enjoy them more effectively. When I would do one game at a time it would eventually grow stale and I would find myself almost always pounding through the latter leg of a title just to start a new one. The Retro-Weekend routine keeps it nice and fresh for me.

Hmmm, maybe I should doing retro weekends as well. I love some old games, but they can become a drag after a few hours thanks to cluncky controls or outdated game mechanics...

Anyway, the games I finished the past ten weeks:
Picross e3
Ace Attorney 5
Final Fantasy XIII-2

My excuse? Hearthstone beta and replaying Clash of Heroes.

Complete list:
Final Fantasy XIII
Grandia III
Ni no Kuni
Atelier Ayesha
Tales of Xillia
Fire Emblem Awakening
Project X Zone
Pikmin 3
Journey
Corpse Party
Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya
Defenders of Oasis
Mario's Picross
Picross e2
Picross DS
Mario's Super Picross
Animal Color Cross
Earthbound
Crimson Shroud
Sweet Fuse
rain
Soul Hackers
Earthbound
Crimson Shroud
Sweet Fuse
rain
Soul Hackers
Picross e3
Ace Attorney 5
Final Fantasy XIII-2

28 games total.

Fun fact: Final Fantasy XIII was the first RPG in 2013 and Final Fantasy XIII-2 the thirteenth and probably last. Are you proud of me now, Square Enix? Are you!?

I have no idea how you guys manage to play all these games...

My completion list for 2013:
Tales of Graces F, except I started it in 2012.  But I did finish it!
The Last of Us
Dragon's Crown (though I still haven't beat the demon lord and that's a thing I want to do...but I did beat the main game on all difficulties so I think it counts)
Project Diva F for the nth time (Hey, save data doesn't exactly transfer between JP and NA copies so I legitimately started over.  It counts!)

Seriously, I think that's all the games I actually completed this year.  Are visual novels 'complete' if you've finished some but not all routes?  That could pad my list, maybe...

And I really should finish Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus.  I was really close when I stopped playing and I'm not sure why I stopped...just got distracted, I guess.

So since the last time I updated (september), I beat:

Sweet Fuse
Dark Souls
Rain
The Testament of Sherlock Holmes
Shadow Hearts: From the New World
Bioshock Infinite
Knytt Underground
Tales from Space: Mutant Blob Attack
Heavy Rain
Folklore
Stick it to the Man
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey

My peak in productivity is mostly just from going back and beating all those games in the backlog that I stopped playing right around the final lap, and playing more bite-sized downloadable titles (which are an excellent palette cleanser after 40+ hour RPGs)
The whole retro-weekend does sound interesting. Usually I just pick what I most feel like playing, but that means I tend to lose focus pretty fast.

I, like Kevadu, don't understand how you people finish all these games in such a short amount of time. I take forever to play through even one game. I also don't understand how people keep track of all the games they've beaten over the course of a year, but then I've always had a terrible memory and don't have any idea what it's like to have a normal one.

I have, however, been focusing since the beginning of November and managed to complete a good number of games:

- Sly Collection
- LoZ Link Between Worlds
- Evoland
- Kirby's Epic Yarn

Hoping to finish InFamous, 999, Legend of Fae, and Lego Lord of the Rings all before Christmas.
