I'm perfectly capable of handling constructive criticism.  And actually, in this scene there's no such thing as bad publicity.  Except if you're MoeNovel.  But that's a tale for another time.

Constructive criticism: Don't post chibi pictures where your cast looks about 10 and then say "Who's this for? People who like bangin'!" if you want an actual adult audience.

But I genuinely believe that people who liked Agarest War and bought it because of the silly advertisements would be interested in this game.  I don't have the resources or the talent to create trailers like that.  But if I did, I would!

If you were to talk to us as individuals, some of us would agree that there are quality eroge out there.  Others of us avoid it like the plague.  For me, Crescendo is one of my favorite visual novels and I've heard good things about Yu-No.  But so long as I've been on staff, the policy has been not to review AO games.  M is the highest we go.  Kinda like how movie theaters only have movies up to R and you have to go to special movie theaters to see X.

And for every good eroge like Crescendo, there are hundreds or really bad and/or disgustingly degenerate ones.  If I were to review Crescendo, then we'd have to review something like Water Closet and from what I've read about that game, I simply cannot in good conscience review a game where, reportedly,  a doctor chains a girl to a urinal and has a gang of his cronies all pee on her.  In addition, considering all the stuff Peach Princess localized (not to mention other publishers), it would take forever to even go through all the eroge and we'd neglect the meat 'n potatoes titles we need to focus on.  Also, we're not an age-restricted site and have no plans to add on an "adults only" section when plenty of other sites out there already scratch that itch better than we could.

I bought it due to the lack of SRPGs being released at the time. At no point did I think that including more animated titties would make it a better game.

Wait, this doesn't improve the experience? It's just like real life. I think. I mean, I've never interacted with a girl in real life, but I hear this is what it's like.

Now now, I know it's all in good humor, but I think we're going for actual chat on the matter. :)

Anyways, Din, in addition to being a rockstar with a guitar, rocked the point best.

You review every title that someone sends your way?  I never argued you're not allowed to have standards, or to draw the line somewhere.  I'd argue that this title is more relevant to your core goals (reviewing RPGs) than reviewing a title like Crescendo.  Also, I never stopped by to promote the Raidy series, because I don't think it's worthy of promotion.  It's not worth your time, and probably not worth your readers' time either!

As for having to age-restrict your site, I'm not sure why that would be necessary just to review an adult title.  You don't have to post adult content in the review.  You just review the title.  Assuming the reviewer is 18 or over, I don't see the problem.

Yeah, Din put it best.

And anyway, there's always the forums where it is completely OK to make a post like he did to bring some awareness to a new release.
Heck, I made a School Days post to celebrate the official release back then.

And finally, boners are awesome.

Zero interest because of the AO elements. Even if it is a supposed ' < 1%' total content. And I quite enjoyed Ar Tonelico I & II. (AT 3 I'm still convinced is worse than Toki & Towa by default due to the stripping mechanics; not that I plan on seeing how bad the latter is.)

Not sure why people haven't hopped onto the KS bandwagon and include a 'turn off AO content' button by default these days. (Which is the sole factor why I played KS; the ability to censor all sexual content and nudity. Sans one tiny bit that got past somehow. ~_~)

Edit: Snipping because this bit was a tiny bit too snarky.

You'd buy the game if there was a menu option to disable or skip the adult content?  Also, you should use the "less than" sign (<).

(Lol, go figure I'd get my signs reversed. XP )

Quite possibly yes.

I've been more into VNs than most other gaming genres these days.
Just a cursory glance at the screen shot provided garners enough interest in the combat system that I'd be willing to research more about the game.

However due to my genetic HSDD the AO content is an absolute deal breaker.

To be fair to this game and others like it, PC games in Japan tend to fall into two separate camps.

The ones that are nothing but trashy porn.

And the ones that are forced to shoehorn porn into it because the PC gaming market in Japan is just that fucking insane.

In the case of the latter, the core gameplay is typically fine enough to stand alone and you could easily exorcize the naughty bits without losing anything. In the case of the former, if you exorcize the naughty, you wont have anything left but a bunch of talking heads awkwardly spouting meaningless nonsense at each other since everything was just an excuse for the porn to begin with. I'm pretty sure this game falls into the latter camp since it looks to be more than just a bunch of excuses for random porn.

In their Wisdom, the Founding Fathers of visual novels created a feature known as "message skip", which is now ubiquitous in modern VNs.  Rather than being limited to just AO content, this versatile feature allows you to leap through ANY textual content that doesn't interest you.  It's a very useful feature and I highly recommend it for you and likeminded individuals.
