I think this is a big enough deal to not keep in the Megami Tensei thread!

I admittedly have the other Atlus RPGs left unfinished, but this is one of THE games I wanted most on 3DS so it'll get top billing for now.

Good call.

I played about 4 hours today and I have to put it down to sleep. I'm really liking it so far. I agree with Stephen, it certainly feels like it didn't have a huge budget, but I can't say it's hampered my enjoyment of it.

I've not played more than 3 hours yet, but I agree with that sentiment.  It feels rather low budget for a title in the SMT main series.

That's not that the game is bad, of course.

And while I'm sad it's not QUITE as lavish as we might have hoped, having a new, quality-designed but lower-budget SMT is better than sending Atlus to the poorhouse to get a HYPER OMEGA 3D ENGINE AAA version. Since their parent isn't exactly flush with cash and all.

I'm very conflicted about this title.

On the one hand the artwork is great, and very few games do artwork of this calibur anymore. On the other, the static images really break the immersion, especially compared to say, SMT: Nocturne.

DAMMIT ASH IT'S ONLY CALIBUR IN SOUL CALIBUR WHEN YOU'RE USING IT LIKE THIS IT'S CALIBER OR IF YOU'RE A BRIT, CALIBRE

Also I sort of agree.

They do. But beyond that, I think the VOICING is fine, it's just the really weird dialogue that makes it seem odd.

I actually have no problem with the voices, but you'd think something so important would be pronounced properly.

It's like the ORIGAHMI KILLAH all over again.

The only reason I understand that reference is because I just got the platinum for that. I don't think samurai is being mispronounced, I think they are trying to kind of create their own dialect for the world of Mikado. If you think about it that way, the stilted dialogue is more understandable. Then again, I don't think the mainline SMT games have really good dialogue anyway.

I feel mainline SMT should probably just stay silent... though in this case SMT:N would've actually been a better game to run with voices for, whereas the more static presentation here makes it kind of pointless feeling to me.

I'm liking it, though it definitely kicks my ass! Especially as I had issues recruiting Mokoi, bastard kept bailing on me or attacking instead.

I've seen videos (so, I'm not playing SMTIV), and yeah it's kind of a drag, especially on the fancier new system.  Maybe the budge is all in P5 or whatever.... but either way, a shame since Atlus' SMT team is quite capable of impressive 3D (certainly their PS2 titles were, Catherine too as far as PS3 goes).

I got this preordered, but tell me: Is it worth it?  Really on the fence about grabbing it
Bear in mind though: I'm stuck in loads of school work, and August has Xillia and Dragon's Crown
