I can get one for a pretty good price but I'm wondering if I should get a different model of the PS3 instead.

I know some people don't like the design, but I didn't think there was actually anything wrong with the super slim.  There's nothing a slim does that it doesn't.

I think it's hideous but who cares I guess. 1/2 the time you can't see the thing because it's in a tv stand. If it turns on and play games and is the cheapest option go for it.

I've had a lot of people at my store report the top of the new disk tray breaking off or the disk tray giving them problems in general.

I've had a strange but consistent experience with sony consoles. The smaller they are, the shorter their respective lifespan-LoL

But I kid you not!! Truly my loud, fat Ps2's all outlasted the slimmer varieties and I have 2 launch model PS3 60 gigs still working just fine to this day without any fixes or refurbs.

EDIT: Don't ask why I own/have owned so much sony hardware... I have spending problems...

Lucky my launch PS3 died on me (then the refurb died on me less than a month later). I've got a super slim to replace it and have yet to have any issues with it yet.

My fat PS2 still works though (I think).

Nice. Enjoy.

I just wanted to mention here that if anyone else is looking for a new PS3 right now, Best Buy is selling 250GB Uncharted 3 bundles for $220. Today and tomorrow only. I believe they are the newest "super slim" design.

EDIT: Sorry. Forgot to do the courteous thing and add a link.

Holy shit that's a good deal. A better deal than the damn system I got, for sure.

I got a slim so I could jailbreak it though so hopefully the model I get (refurb) is capable of that.
