Not like it ever mattered though. Capcom couldn't have afforded to buy up Atlus even if they wanted to.

Yup, Sega seems to have completely given up on Phantasy Star in the west...and Yakuza...and Valkyria Chronicles...and they gave up on the Shining series years ago...err, what do they localize, again?  I guess there's...Sonic...

OK, we did get that Hatsune Miku game.  That's a small miracle, really.  On the other hand, being a rhythm game without any kind of story it was probably really easy to localize.  With Project Diva F 2 announced I wonder what the odds of getting that are...

Hah, if Nintendo owned Sonic maybe they could actually make a decent Sonic game...but no, that character definitely still belongs to Sega.  It's their mascot!

Maybe you're thinking of the "Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games" series, a cross-over with both characters (in case you couldn't tell from the title...).  Though that's still developed by Sega with Nintendo's permission.

Admittedly without Atlus fully acquired yet the true test will be once Nov 1st has come and some time has passed. Still, if they felt the need to lay off at Sega USA in advance it does imply there's some value in Atlus USA for them.
