Or they layed off Sega USA staff because they don't actually do anything anymore so it was a logical place to make cuts...

Either way, its cuts not being made to Atlus USA, and that's a good thing.

But as Eusis pointed out, if they intend to cut Atlus USA we won't know about it for a while yet.

Right, but right now only SoA is getting cutbacks (Skies of Arcadia, NOOOOOOO!!!) and last I checked they didn't go by the name Atlus USA. Now whether this good news will last is something we won't know until November.

And btb, by 'good news', I mean, Sega doing something that isn't completely moronic, like ignoring the rest of the world to cozy up to Japan's tiny little overworked teat. Not that I wish anybody in SoA to be without a job in this economy, but they and their talents were effectively being squandered.
In my vision, I see that one of us is going to KO the other.

Atlus is trying to force its fanbase to Facebook. It's to increase the market for all those Facebook games they'll now be making.

Oh god! I've got a wish list of old Sega IPs I'd love to see get a kick in the pants. Too bad single player Phantasy Star is off the table (since that PSO2 is still a thing). Maybe a Shining Force, Sakura Taisen, and/or Crystal Warriors x Growlanser game would be sweet (hell, lets go wild and throw in all of the above plus Langrisser into that mix and make it the biggest SRPG clusterfuck outside of Project X Zone or any given SRW). Alternatively, something involving Psychic World or Zillion (just to see them reach that far back into the mothballs; besides, I feel that they should build up to the better properties like Jet Set Radio or Skies of Arcadia, rather than diving right in and completely missing the point; also I want to see if they can get the rights to Zillion given the whole 'anime tie in' thing).
In my vision, I see that one of us is going to KO the other.

That's pretty good news, and I'm happy with Sega's attitude.

Sakura Taisen (that makes it to the U.S.) and/or Valkyria Chronicles developed by Atlus, please!

It's never going to happen, but a HD remake of Panzer Dragoon Saga would make me squee like an anime schoolgirl hyped up on Pocky and caffeine pills.  Or Panzer Dragoon Collection (w/ PDS 1, 2, Saga, and Orta.)  But nothing's probably going to come of PDS.
Games I've given Editor's Choice to:
Ever 17, Hourglass of Summer, Anachronox, Persona PSP, Radiant Historia, To The Moon, Revolution 60

I remember reading somewhere (probably just a rumor) that they lost the original code for PDS.

You guys should keep in mind that Atlus is still a relatively small developer that has their hands full with their own IPs.  I wouldn't expect too much out of this...
