Makes me really miss Andriasang even more.  That was a really good site.

I know what you mean. I'm glad the guy got a job in the industry, since he deserved it, but it still feels like there's a void not quite being filled with that place gone...

Same here. It was the place to go after 1up fell apart back in 09.

Haruka Shimotsuki and Noriko Mitose have been already confirmed since last week when the newest characters and game systems were revealed in the most recent issue of Dengeki PlayStation. 4gamer's latest article for the game also echoes this. This was already a given, as since they were in Ciel Nosurge, it would make no sense to not bring them back for this game, especially considering that the character for who Mitose sang in Ciel Nosurge is also making a reappearance in this game.
Good to know. Hurray for more Haruka Shimotsuki! I'm confused as to why CDjan lists something different, but w/e. Maybe the entry is for something else and I am just dumb. x_x

This is pretty big news, even if it's about a week old now from Famitsu, and worth the semi-necro bump.  It's not just an homage to Ar tonelico - it's directly related to it.

OH MY GOD!

No wait....the opposite of that.

Figures....

Yeah, that's the feeling I'm looking for.

Actually, I kinda expected either Jaquil, Cocona, or the Pharmacy chick to show up instead.

Also, a trailer/pics.

The official opening has been put on Youtube.

And interestingly, Earth shows up for a second at one point, and maybe shows up once or twice otherwise. You can see Africa and South America clearly. I'm really curious what that's about.

Although it might be something dumb like we silenced our world.

The actual anime parts are a bit "iffy" looking... but the rest of the background and fancy shapes work so damn well in the video and the song is quite lovely.

I wanna know more about Robocop in there; he seems badass.

At least the anime bits look better than the incredibly cheap looking Atelier Iris 1 opening.

I am convinced that Gust made that in house for whatever reason. Either that or they got stiffed.

Impractical Imagining here:
I think the series did the *coolest* thing in ArTone2 where the pulled a "Vanillaware".  The synchronity chain bit where that had the artwork move (as opposed to creating a mini-animated segment) was a great idea.

I wouldn't expect that much work for an opening, but man the results are nice.

I've actually hated most of Gusts openings for a sort of "plastic" and cheap look to them.
Atelier Rorona also looked pretty goofy as well, iirc.

The music, on the other hand, usually varies between "lovely" and "perfect" to me.

Really loved the music for the opening. Then again I really love the vocalists Gust works with, so I suppose that isn't that big of a surprise. Visuals were pretty also.

I absolutely want the dress Ciel wears.  That wine red and gold is a perfect combination (not sure I'm digging the hoodie and shorts for the other girl; but I've always liked the design disparities between the Ar Tonelico leading ladies).

Code:
I also like that the main guy looks to have some bulk... I feel like it's been years since we've seen that on a JRPG hero

The more I see/hear the more I want to play. :)

...ridiculous bathing-sequence aside.

http://www.siliconera.com/2014/01/27/gusts-ar-nosurge-shows-battle-system/

Battle footage.

It looks a little like a cross between Ar Tonelico 1 and 2's battle system with a little bit of free movement, but I'm not entirely sure.

And it also looks like you fight armies in the battles.

I absolutely want the dress Ciel wears.

Her name is Ion (full name: Ionasal.kkll.Preciel).

Although it might be something dumb like we silenced our world.

It's because there's active contact with our world and dimension in both Ciel nosurge and here: the people of that world call their own world "Ciel", while they call ours "Earthes", as it can be seen in the BIOS-startup screen at the beginning of the opening video. And it happens to be that the robot is called "EARTHES" too, so the most commonly believed theory is that EARTHES is actually an avatar for the player due to being the terminal the player used to communicate with Ion in Ciel nosurge being remodeled by her into the robot we see here.

And there's a lot of things the English news outlets haven't said: Ciel nosurge and Ar nosurge are prequels to Ar tonelico, the pre-Grathnode Inferia First Tower of Ar tonelico is an area the players will be able to visit (and it'll include three pieces of remixed BGMs from the first Ar tonelico: Green Lands, AT Inside ~Anomaly~ and Ancient Memories) alongside the never-seen before regions of Syestine and the Forest of Shelanoir in Ar Ciel.

As for the combat system, it'll be based off AT2's but the players will fight all encounters that can appear in the map at once: all enemies will appear in waves, and the player will be given a turn limit. If the time ends, the player will be returned to the map and given rewards (EXP, DP, money, dropped items) depending on the amount and types of monsters they manage to kill, as well as them being discounted from the encounter gauge, but the clincher is this: if the player manages to kill all enemy waves before the turn limit runs out, aside of getting the rewards, the encounter gauge will get completely emptied upon returning to the map, so this is pretty much an improvement on the standard encounter gauge system of the Ar tonelico games. And I must add that Song Magic gains the ability to blast through all waves when the player has charged it for enough time if anyone believes that they'll be severely pressed for time during battle.

Finally, Gust put out a 11-minute long gameplay sampler video, and a Genometric Concert sampler video. They also have plans to put up a video showcasing the music box that will come as part of the game's JP collector's edition.
