I havent seen a topic about this yet so...
Siliconera reports that Final Fantasy VI will receive a mobile port for the IOS/Android market with enhanced graphics in the style of the earlier released Final Fantasy V port.

Damn.. I am all for re-releasing old catalog.. Im just sad that it is android/ios exclusive..
It would have been cool to see this and the enhanced port of FFV on a handheld.

Square Enix also poses the possibility of giving Final Fantasy VII the same treatment in the future. They revealed this Final Fantasy 6 earlier today to Kotaku if you are curious.

Someone posted this on NeoGAF after reading the news.

And about Final Fantasy VII on iOS it was expected after they announced Dragon Quest VIII for iOS.

They are also going to make the game less grindy(I take it they will reduce random encounters). I am actually pretty okay with this, one of the issues of Final Fantasy VI was a random battle every 3 steps making dungeon exploration much more stressful than it should be.
Im just sad that it is only being released on smartphone platforms because I dont have a capable one.. I dont how hard it would be to port these to pc and release them on steam.. What's up with that?
Hell, 3ds games sell pretty well aswell.

Oh good God my greatest fears are coming true!!

I knew it was gonna happen eventually... but to finally see the only re-release/remaster I've truly waited years for hitting nothing but IOS and Android, well its abysmal.

I tried to prepare myself for this, as I knew it was inevitable, but it still hurts.

I never considered FFVI a very grindy game in the first place...

I'm also worried about this being in the style of the FFV mobile port.  I really didn't like the sprites in that (and I know I'm not alone here).  Though I thought the sprites for the PSP version of FFIV were fantastic.  Why can't they do something like that?

It's not grindy, it just has a very steep random encounter rate imo.
I definitely agree with you, FF V sprite art is kinda bad. Hopefully they will choose a different style.

@Holykael1: V and VI were considered to be developed for 3DS a few years ago. Later time passed with no news or anything and nothing ended up coming out of that.

Here's hoping that Bravely Default sells well and they consider porting these ports to 3DS and hell Vita.

This.  I know I've been asking for something about this for a while, but I'm hoping this isn't too half-assed.

I've resisted all of Square's iOS releases until now.

Damnit.

Yeah.... If it does look like FFV's ios thing, then I'm just swearing it off as a "fan made" patch and acknowledging only the one SNES-based version.

Do you have any problems with the gba version? I thought it was great.

Edit; Nevermind.. The gba version is snes based I suppose.

Posting for good measure.  I hope Squeenix just hates FFV and will do better with VI.
