Anyone collect strategy guides for RPG's
« on: October 25, 2013, 02:39:20 PM »
Curious if anyone collects strategy guides for RPG's along with the games. I just got Suikoden II with the strategy guide but honestly I'm looking to sell the guide if anyone's interested

I used to before realizing that having to use a guide to play a game isn't a sign of good game design.

For me, a game guide is a way to maximize my gaming progress/time.  For example, which pokemon are in this area?  I could fight two hundred battles and hope I see them all, or I could find a guide.  Where are the last five blast shards in InFamous?  I could randomly wander through the entire city, or I could look at a map and systematically look at all of the spots where they are.

For me, it depends on how much artwork is used in the book and whether I liked the character designs to begin with.
In my vision, I see that one of us is going to KO the other.

I used to collect them just for the sake of collecting them. If I do actually need help with a game I usually just google or youtube it.

I have a Xenosaga 3 strategy guide. Because I collect vidyagames, and it was bundled with it for no apparent reason.

Which makes up for the manually being incongruously absent.

Addendum to my previous post: I, by principal, will not acquire any strategy guide that spends most of its pages telling me to check out the company's website, regardless of the quality of the art therein.
In my vision, I see that one of us is going to KO the other.
