1up news story.

I read it yesterday. Basically, the reviewer gave it a 5/10, and heavily criticized it for following the D&D rules to a fault, basically, and also criticized the graphics, the latter of which others have been doing, though it confessed that people who're serious fans of D&D can knock the score up to an 8 or 9. Google could have a cache too, so it may be worth trying to see if you can still read it that way.

Maybe I'm just not a big fan of 1up's reviewing style, but after looking at the original post (which when I looked at the article was the most recent post), I don't see how it's terribly different from their expected standards.

Well, in the case of NWN2 it may not really have been compared to other RPGs, and held by different standards. You don't expect Halo out of, say, WoW afterall.

I've talked about my opinions on review scores, but I think 1up may be just a bit too borad than I like. I prefer that over throwing everything but the absolute worst in the 70's or higher, but I think GameSpot hit my preferred range.

Double post: There's a Penny Arcade comic about it. Also, if you check their news, they've got the review archived so you can see this 5/10 review for yourself.
