Oh holy crap does this look bad. Everybody's got a bad case of giraffe neck, and even the character portraits look goofy and cartoonish. Even the Magitek Armors from the intro look like they stutter as they putter along.

I don't understand why they haven't shown more screenshots than those. It's not as if it would take ages to rework the graphics. It's hard to have a solid opinion based on only two screenshots. I would however say Narshe feels too bright in contrast to the evening feeling of the SNES version. Anyway when I want to play FF6, I play the original version, it would take a 3D version for me to play it on a different platform.

I have FF5 on my iPad.  I like that the character portraits during dialogue  utilize the original Amano art and are nicely sized.  But I feel like the sprites themselves don't integrate that well with the backgrounds.  It's like someone said, they are glossier but seem to lack detail. 

In looking at the FF6 screenshots, I do think the backgrounds look smoother in iOS format.  But I'm not feeling the sprites or the choice of dialogue portraits.

I actually liked how the PSP versions of FFI and II looked, but I feel like this is pushing it a bit too far.

That said, I do think the Imperial Troopers/Biggs and Wedge are kinda cute in their battle sprites. Not the menu sprites.

Even if the only commands you will ever need to use will be Attack, Magic, and for some characters' their personal ability.
