I hope the rumors are real, it'd be cool to finally have a Fallout take place where I'm from. (You just know that Salem is going to be in it with some witch-based quest line)

Instead of bumping that one topic I created for this game in the Misc. Games board that has all of one post beyond my own OP, I'll leave this here instead.
In my vision, I see that one of us is going to KO the other.

I hate the idea of making your kid play older games. When I was a kid and someone tried to get me play an Atari or etc I realized that it sucked and I could be playing NES. Games are meant to be fun, not history lessons.

But I'll probably never have kids so the matter at hand an my opinion of it is moot.

I live just outside DC, so checking out familiar spots in Fallout 3 was surreal.  Especially the Metro.  And I'm pretty sure they made my hometown into a hideout for cannibals....

To be fair there are old games that are enjoyable. So I can totally see introducing your kids to gaming first through good old games. Hell I first became obsessed with gaming due to playing the NES at my aunt and uncle's place the year the N64 came out.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-01-17/nintendo-forecasts-net-loss-on-stagnating-sales-of-wii-u-games.html

Quote
Nintendo previously projected a profit of 55 billion yen in the fiscal year ending March as it counted on Christmas shoppers to revive sales of the Wii U console featuring games with iconic characters Mario and Zelda. The company cut forecasts for Wii U console sales to 2.8 million units from 9 million and for Wii U game sales to 19 million units from 38 million.

Ouch.

So Nintendo really took a blow.  Maybe not with the 3DS, but it still wasn't enough (certainly the Wii U is making them bleed money).

Will Nintendo change?  Will we see some big (hopefully not rushed) WiiU titled to compensate?

The WiiU will sell just fine, but it's going to be a slow crawl for folkls to adapt. All those non-gamers Nintendo attracted with the Wii are now being introduced to the idea of upgrading their console and it's a tough sell for a lot of them. (Of course, it doesn't help that whoever is in charge of naming their products is intentionally trying to troll Nintendo and confuse consumers)

I wasn't expecting the PS4/XBoxOne launches to steal that much thunder from the Wii U.

Although it doesn't help that instead of bringing up the incoming games that had interested gamers like X, Bayonetta 2, SMTxFE, and SSB4 during the season they focused on DK:Tropical Freeze and a few other miscellaneous games instead. Plus their only releases during the season were A Link Between Worlds and Super Mario World 3D both of which have been having issues with their franchises lately.

Anyways, http://gematsu.com/2014/01/deception-iv-blood-ties-release-date-announced. A western release date for this got announced.

Also, http://www.siliconera.com/2014/01/09/incredible-nintendo-3ds-app-lets-users-create-comics/, is a thing that exists. And for those who are interested, http://www.siliconera.com/2014/01/10/comic-studio-nintendo-3ds-will-released-west/.

Yeah, having worked gaming retail in the past, I do not understand why they would name their different generation consoles with almost identical names. Bloody confusing.

The WiiU needs more third party RPGs before I even THINK about buying one. Monolith's "X" might get me to get one if it is anywhere as awesome as Xenoblade.

I've thought about getting a Wii U...but part of that is because I never got a Wii so I could try out some of the Wii games I missed too.  Based on the Wii U's library alone...yeah, no way.

Oh dear....  "How to Kill Your Career over Social media"
This is pretty gross...

Kotaku has learned that the journalist involved in this conversation was Josh Mattingly, the founder and CEO of the indie gaming website IndieStatik. P

When reached on the phone by Kotaku, Mattingly said he planned to apologize, and took to his blog, where he wrote an apology this evening. "There has been a recent situation that I regretfully put myself into involving a woman who I consider a friend in the industry," he wrote. "I want to take a moment to sincerely apologize for the way I acted and the words that were exchanged."P
