In other news (thus warranting a new post) the Dysfunctional System kickstarter has succeeded.

^ While I'm not crazy for the art style, the colouring is *gorgeous*.  I'm curious about the project too, I like the stretch goals and the more I hear about Kickstarter titles the more I like about it -- as dumb as it is.

Did anyone here play the first Chapter?

Xenoblade set my standards pretty high for what the WiiU can do.

I think, of all things, Mario Kart 8 is really delivering what the system is capable of as well, it's *gorgeous*

I got a hell of a retro kick out of seeing classic stages like Donut Plains 2 rendered in that gorgeous HD, plus Rainbow Road is still an incredible theme.

Also Toad's Turnpike again. Ugh.

Also also, Boomerang, or Boo-merang? What's next, a Hookshot?

I'm actually thinking of getting Mario Kart 8 for something my mom and I can play together.

Hey, remember when we were still talking about The Last Guardian like it was actually a thing?

Was thinking, oh.. another Mario Kart game. This one looks great though. Backgrounds look smoother, more detail & contrast. The glider option to the carts was surprising and cool to see as well. I also agree with Klutz, this is one of those misc. games you can play with family and friends, laugh and have a good time. I have Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze to keep me busy until I pick this one up, but I'm def. interested.

IIRC, wasn't one of the updates last night that you can now customize what items are in play??  Thank the lord...

I want an all blue shell match.

But seriously, I hate half of the items, it's why I barely played Mario Kart Wii more than a week.

I agree. Mario Kart has been a blah for a long time now. They lure us all in with the cool stages, new mechanics, and all that when the series' gameplay has just become one big, chaotic item rush.

Series more or less peaked with Double Dash. Having copilots cart extra items and take over to allow mid course driving style changes made driving around a hell of a lot more strategic.

^ I love when you reach that point with your partner to compensate for each other and trust in each other to act when need be.  I agree, Double Dash was the Mario Kart series' peak.

My brother and I couldn't go driving for about a full day after 100%-ing it though.... The desire to just hit some fucker for driving 1mph too slow would have been dangerous.

Plus, it introduced Toadette...the best and cutest fucken thing to ever happen to the Toad population.

Gameplay (Looks nice)

So Black Desert.  A new next-gen Korean MMO with.....some pretty fucking swell graphics and the most intuitive and extensive looking character creator I've ever seen.

EDIT: You can even adjust how much fucking oil/shine there is on your skin.

Yeah, you do kinda need a partner who's good at driving to really get the most out of the system.

That said, the best way to play is to find 4 TVs, 4 Gamecubes, 16 Gamecube Controllers, and enough cables to assemble the unholy beast, and enough people you wont mind despising you when its all said and done.
